'Nights like the semi-final back in 2005 when the crowd where frightening, live long in the memory of anyone who witnessed it, never mind me as an opposition player. Despite what some people may say about the current state of affairs at Liverpool, that night has always stuck in my head and give me the desire to one day play in a red shirt, help the club return to its former glorys and have them on my side.'

We remember it well and all Joseph lad , what a night it was ,

great signing and finally something to be happy about.

simple fact of the matter is this, without this signing or one like it Gerrard and probably Torres where on there bike, the club had to show these two player and others at the club that they meant business, so its not all about Roy and him having to prove himself, would Cole of signed for Roy had he still been at Fulham, NO, money would of been an issue but ive no doubt the biggest reason he`s signing for us would be the chance to play for Liverpool football club, lets also not forget that Purslow is also under alot of pressure to deliver and whilst he has delived on this one it doesnt mean we should not expect more from him.

so well done to all involved and welcome to Liverpool Joe

Its very unusual for Chelsea to let players go for free if they are an integral part of the team ?

I don't think Hiddink really fancied him as a player, or at least not as much as previous Chelsea managers. He didn't get much of a look when he was back up to fitness come the end of the season. Seem to remember he ended being a bit of a supersub. I imagine that might have played a part in the contract offer he received. It doesn't have to be a big conspiracy theory. So what if the money played a big part in his decision, top sportsmen all over the world make moves and decisions based on money.

Should just say a quick apology for having a laugh at Emerald. It was a classic case of getting your foot in to avenge an earlier dodgy challenge, but I shouldn't have gone there. Sorry fella. Still don't agree with you obviously, but fair do's.

Also a quick message to Benny, nobody is "abusing" you fella, nor are they denying your right to have an opinion, they just think you are talking b0ll0cks that's all, it's not the same thing. Get excited about Joe Cole and join the party. We're currently level with everyone, Chelsea, the Mancs, Man City etc etc. We've caught up on all the feckers while they haven't been looking, and at this point we are neck and neck in the race for the title.

My honest suspicion is there will be plenty of time for doom and gloom further down the track, so join up with us Ben and get some mindless positivity flowing through your veins, even just for a bit. You might even get to like it.

Two days ago we were bemoaning being linked with the likes of Beattie, and now we effectively get £6m plus Joe Cole for Bennayoun.  If that isn't the deal of the summer I'll plait $hit.

Joe Cole is a player that any of the top teams in the EPL and beyond would like in their squad, and it is a massive boost both to the squad and perhaps more importantly to the morale of all concerned, not least the fans.

A great start for Roy, and the squad is all of sudden looking better, with Jovanovic and Shelvey on board, I am suddenly more excited about the new season.

Even more so when we get the funds from the sales of Masch, possibly Babel and Riera too.

If we use that wisely to secure three or four quality players, and cross our fingers that Aqualani is like a new signing for us too then we could fare much better than we all feared after last season.

As to who signed him....well the finances not suprisingly would have been handled by the men trying to balance our very unbalanced books.  It would amaze me if Roy did not convince Cole to come, and of course identify him as a target.

Top signing, top player and everything is looking better all of a sudden.

IMO using the money from Masch, Babel and Riera we should get;

AML* Turan
ST* Huntelaar (should use 12.5 on him other than Remy)
LB* Fábio Coentrão
LB* Figueroa
Def CM* optional?

Good competition upfront

CM
Gerrard
Aqua
Lucas
Shelvey

AML/R or AMC
Cole
Jankovic
Turan
Kuyt
Rodriguez
Pacheco
Gerrard
Aqua

ST
Kuyt
Torres
Huntelaar
Jankovic

I thought it was only the people who were positive were being insulted on here according to some .

re read your posts. It's bitterness at its best.

Explain why its bitter . Are people now no longer allowed to express an opinion - do i have to follow along like a sheep in happy happy land because we have signed one player .

Mate, you're getting a few jibes about being a bitter because when the signing broke and everybody else was rejoicing all you could say was 'he's only coming for the money' or something to that effect which is exactly what the Spurs fans who wanted Joe Cole have been saying and i'd guess there's a few Evertonians out there saying the same thing as well.

Am sure I said the same thing in a post yesterday! How can you witness the full force of Anfield on a night like in 2005 and then again in 2007 and not want to be a part of that!!!!!

Best thing for me is that this transfer (whether it works out or not) has put the Red Bull back into our fan base!  :buttrock
