The imminent squad reshuffle... - ...thoughts?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think there are far more worries up front than at the back. Liverpool actually had 4 defenders at the World Cup. We seriously can't be going into another season without any new strikers. We need 2 atleast, but there sadly seems to be a lack of ambition.

Not for the first time I'm scratching my head as to why we didn't ask for Wesley Sneider as part of the Alonso deal last summer. I can't recall what Inter paid for him but it looks an absolute snip

I heard we did Scott but he wasn't interested in moving this way. I think Inter paid something like £13Mil.

Liverpool set to snap up Twente attacker Bryan Ruiz

Roy Hodgson is determined to kick off his Liverpool refurb with the capture of Twente hot shot Bryan Ruiz, according to the Daily Mail.

Ruiz, 24, was the catalyst for Steve McLaren's successful charge to the Dutch title after he grabbed 24 goals in his debut season.

This guy any good? How much would he cost?

I'd rate Steve McLaren in the same bracket as Malcolm McLaren - fookin' waste of space if you ask me...
So I wouldn't rate his players either...

Considering our financial position he'd be worth a shout, still got lot so of potential in my eyes, he's big, strong and quick and can play a bit and could do it at RB or CB. Not sure how much he'd cost mind? I'd guess around the £8 million mark.

IMO, Richards is shyte. End of !  :D

We have already signed a striker.

Why not? Its not like we can buy much better unless we sell some of our star players. And we still badly need at least a left back.

I was just thinking if we buy Ruiz and Cole. Then for Attack we could Partner Torres with : Ruiz, Kuyt, Jovanic, Babel and N'gog. We would have Ruiz, Jovanic and Babel left wing, of course Arda would be ideal since he's suited there but those 3 aren't bad and Reira could be shipped out. Right wing we could have Cole, Maxi and Kuyt with Gerrard, Aquilani, Lucas and Masch or Mascherano's recplacement as midfield. We would also have a strong bench and we could put some youngsters on the bench as Pacheco and Nemeth and Shevley. Lets hope it happens.  :D

not just him. robben, van der vaart, drenthe and huntelaar would all have been excellent signings for someone in this country aswell.

Whoever it was who paid 13 million for Sneijder got themselves a bit of a bargain, but to be honest I'm glad we didn't go for Huntelaar or Drenthe as I'm not set on either player. Equally and in fairness to the previous management, I should think the owners wanted to get their grubby mits on the full cash amount for Alonso's transfer which would have made a player plus cash deal more difficult.

West Brom want N'gog on loan...

Newly promoted West Bromwich Albion are looking to boost their survival bid with a loan swoop for Liverpool striker David N'Gog, according to the Birmingham Mail.

N'Gog, 21, has emerged as a promising youngster at Anfield and has grabbed seven goals in 38 Premier League appearances since joining from Paris Saint Germain in 2008. This record has attracted Baggies manager Roberto Di Matteo who sees the France youth international as thep perfect addition to his squad.

West Brom struggled to get on the score sheet in their last stay in the Premier League and are on the lookout for a new marksman. Any encouragement from Liverpool for a temporary move will be pounced upon.

According to reports former Wigan Athletic midfielder Paul Scharner is a target for Liverpool FC.

Scharner is available on a free transfer after deciding his time with the Latics had come to an end.

New Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has been an admirer of the Austrian international and sought to take him to Craven Cottage when in charge of Fulham.

It seems Hodgson’s interest has not waned following his move to Anfield and is now hoping to bring him to Merseyside.

Scharner wants to stay in the Premier League and would certainly jump at the chance of playing for a big club.

However, it seems Hodgson will face competition from Aston Villa.

So we are looking at that level of player alongside Steven Taylor from Newcastle and a guy from Costa Rica ?!

Not exactly signings to propel us back into 4th
