I think thats a wild statement based on my experience. I also wasnt talking about you personally being scared. I dont know you

I think the word scared implies fear of something I was just simply saying the older you get the less you fear ...I think we're basically at odds over the choice of  manager but we agree in principle as to how Anfield will react to supporting the team and the manager

He's articulate, clever, dry; has a really decent record as a manager and may just be the chap who takes LFC forward on what will most likely be a shoestring budget. The negativity surrounding the news that he may be our next manager is bewildering! The club is in a really sorry state at the moment due to factors we all know about but at least we can all get behind the man who was voted Manager of the Year last season in the toughest League in the world!!!

If he is so good why has he won next to nothing of any significance - winning manager of the year is a nothing award - he won it because he got to a final !

What had Shankly won before he was appointed manager of Liverpool?

Shanks was 46 when he took over Liverpool. What age is Roy? 62? If he hasn't done the business by now for some other club, chances are he'll never do it, especially taking over in the state we're in. TO even use Shankly as a reference is a joke. Hodgson is a journyman. That's all. He's not here to take us to the next level and that's the biggest disappointment for me.

On that basis Spurs wouldn't have appointed Redknapp to turn them round because he was about 60 and had been a "journeyman" manager at Bournemouth, West Ham, Southampton and Pompey (twice).

Whatever the rights and wrongs of Rafa's spending and how much he had or didn't have or didn't use properly or make the best of Rafa failed. We can argue about that but at the end of the day he didn't do it and Rafa over the 6 years (in particular before H&G arrived) only had himself to blame.

It'c unclear at the moment what the next level for Liverpool is. Is it title winners or is it top four again? The future has to be better than the past even if that means without Gerrard and Torres. The club is always bigger than individuals. Whatever money comes in for whoever is sold will to some degree have to be spent on new additions.

I'd rather have a steady hand with a calmness to deliver without all the expectation of an Ancelotti or a Rijkaard or a Hiddink. Hodgson might not be the step up but he might just be what Liverpool's underachieving prima donnas need to step up. The jury will still be out after tomorrow but I'm prepared to give Mr Hdogson the benefit of the doubt for now.

The hight of Spurs' ambitions was to get in the CL. That's it, and after how many years of trying, they find the one season where we are sh*te to make it in there. Don't go thinking Harry Redknapp is in some upper level of club manager on the continent, now. Redknapp is another journyman akin to Hodgson. He goes to clubs, buckles them down, and that's the hight of it. Spurs have had cash to burn. Always have had, yet one season Harry gets them to the CL and he's the new f*cking messiah or something? Do you even know the meaning of the term "journyman"? We're supposed to be looking forward to this club being taken to more European cup finals, challenging for the league. Sorry, call me a pessimistic b@stard, but I can't see it happening with Roy. He'll be pinching himself just being here.

Based on last year Hodgson is far more likely to get Liverpool back into the Champions League and challenge for the title than Rafa.

Oh and Rijkaard hardly left Barca in glorious circumstances a couple of years ago. Hiddink still couldn't get Chelski above Rafa's Liverpool in 2009 and Capello well what a joke. Deschamps he doesn't want to come and his managerial experience is still quite limited. I'm not convinced by Lippi either. Van Gaal is probably the best of the bad foreign bunch in all honesty. O'Neill's Villa are a boring team. Liverpool need someone who doesn't think his ego and importance is bigger than the team. Hodgson fits the bill as far as that is concerned.

Youre not the only one gutted at our plight mate. Im a scouser, Red and proud and it guts me that we have come to this.
But I am not crying like a little girl because we got a decent manager instead of a superb one. The last one did a lot of damage that the current one will have to make right. Of course hes not the answer to all our ills. I am not Fu*king stupid. I remember us being the best. But were not anymore. We have to be realistic. I will be there on the 4th because I want the cu'nts out.
But I will also be supporting our new manager because, whether you, me or anyone else likes it, we NEED him to help us sort OUR club out.
Anyone who cares for LFC has to back Hodgson fully. Otherwise we will all have plenty of reason to cry. I promise

I am glad you think he is decent manager  fella ...you see I don't, I personally think he shouldn't be within a hares breath of being included on a list of managers to take us forward and I intend to proclaim my views on the 4th  so that cunt Purslow doesnt make the assumption all Liverpool fans are as malleable as the naive new breed we have following us now ... that's my fight fella and it will take a serious act of God to prevent me

But I have never in all my years given torrential  abuse to a player while wearing red and that is equally true for the manager ..I remember religiously the Anfield code and while I have watched and listened despairingly over the last few years to some who have shattered this law in an unedifying respect I shudder to think the majority of the Kop will  ever forget this code of practice

How did Hodgson ever get appointed as coach of a club like Inter Milan a few years ago?

Aren't they a big club like Liverpool? Didn't he win the UEFA cup and finish third in his second season there?

roys record in england.
blackburn.
matches 62.
won 22.
drawn 18.
lost 22.
fulham.
matches 127.
won 50.
drawn 32.
lost 45.
not very inspiring at all.
i reckon he will be lucky not to lose key players in the transfer window, wont attract anywhere near the same quality replacements and be forced to contend with a squad more like what he is used to,then he will only get the same results he's used to.
it is a real possibility and thats why i am, like most sceptical about the appointment.
i dont blame roy for this i blame those two c,u,n,t,s.
i said it earlier ,we could have done a lot better but much worse.
the vast majority of our fans, whether they call him roy or woy does'nt matter.they will support him the same way they supported every other man before him come match day.
