This season he has been very poor and average is the best he can ever hope for.
He never tackles, has no pace, tries a through ball every 10th game, poor in the air, very poor defensivly and makes clumsy challenges. You can not loose the ball and just jog back making no attempt to win back the ball.
He can't have the excuse of being too young either. He is 23 years old and has got something like 2 goals and 2 assists in 45 games.
Like Insua and Ngog, sometimes you just have to accept that
some players will never be good enough.
And yet Rafa prefers him to Aquilani...
Actually, I would say no. He may prefere Lucas holding, but I doubt he'd tell you that Lucas has more ability than him. You never know: a couple of signings and a change in system could see Lucas drop to the bench for next season in more games. Aquinali could be like a new signing. Oh, wait....
Lucas isn't a holding player though. Maybe once, just once, Rafa will buy a player and not completely destroy his career by playig him in the completely wrong position
He is a holding mid, despite what Stan Collymore might tell us all. And I don't see who Benitez has bought (bar Dirk Kuyt) who's position he has altered and wrecked their career with. In fact, I wouldn't even say that it's that unusual for a striker to be put on either wing.
Seriously? Babel as well, and there have been others, and Lucas for his country plays a lot more attacking
