the first post on this thread I mentioned Ronaldo.There was a report in the echo about him wanting to join Liverpool way back in June.Phil Thompson was the man out in Toulon watching him and it was,apparently,on his report that Liverpool never followed up their initial interest or could it be there is no money left for Houllier to spend.

looking at him on the telly it looks like we missed the boat on him big time.
unlike diouff he looks so comfortable when running at full backs, he threw all sorts of step overs, swerves and dummys but still looked so balanced.
i`d never even heard of him before united got him and i like to think i`ve got my finger on the pulse of the game.
apparently they played against him and he ripped o`shea to shreds (no mean feat) and this made up their minds.
reading your original post ss you mention him begging houllier to sign him.i hope thats not true. if it is its almost criminal.
