LIVERPOOL v west brom Sun 27th Dec 4.30pm KO

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Thu Dec 24, 2020 8:22 am

Our first 9 league games of 2021 include matches against Southampton (A), Man Utd (H), Tottenham (A), Man City (H), Leicester (A) and Everton (H) so we need to make sure we don’t drop any silly points on Sunday. The title will be won and lost in that period imo but that doesn’t mean we can afford to overlook our next 2 opponents (West Brom and Newcastle).
Btw Merry Christmas everyone!

Thiago, Milner and Shaq have been back involved with at least part of team training this week so might be back for this.

Should be straight forward but you never know with Big feckin Sam and Sammy !! This should be nothing more than an opportunity to improve our goal difference!!

You say this should an opportunity to improve our goal difference dev but it’s been the Villa’s, Fulham’s, Brighton’s (and dare I say it - West Brom’s) of this world who we’ve struggled against.
Whenever we face one of the divisions lesser lights you can normally tell within the first five minutes how the game is going to pan out, if we start sloppy then 9 times out of 10 that will be the pattern set for the whole game,
It’s absolutely imperative that we are right at it from the first whistle against these types of teams.

Exactly Yakka and that’s why I said should. It will be interesting.

On paper we should obliterate them but like many I would still play sensibly and gradually destroy them. Big Sam will park the bus but I feel once we penetrate through the cracks we will win this one with ease.

Imperitive we keep on winning and opening up a gap. The bigger the gap and eventually the others will whither away.
3-0 Liverpool.

Win this we open up a 6 point gap.

Three of our main rivals have contrived to drop points today (Leic, Man U - 2 points and Chelsea 3 points ) so the comment above about opening up a gap has added significance ahead of tomorrow- win and we are at least 5 points clear (that's if the Blue dross beat the blades).

I reckon if we can get the gap to 9 points we win it as the others simply will not have the stomach or self belief to play week in week out knowing they have zero margin for error... a bit like last season when we beat City and got 9 points clear- quite  a few pundits simply said "it's over" even at that early stage.

This game has the potential to be a banana skin. The lads will need to be up for it, as Big Sam will be pulling every trick in the book to disrupt our game.

Hopefully we can put in another Palace performance and make a huge statement.

I'm going for 4-0 to the mighty reds!

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Kelleher, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino, Shaqiri, Origi, R. Williams, Phillips, N. Williams.

Strongest 11 we could put out..where the hell is Keita- not even on the bench?

Being saved for the Newcastle game?

Klopp has said a couple of times that Naby's fitness isn't 100%. Maybe he's a starter for Wednesday?

Dont understand teams like this, it's a free game for them just have a go like Fulham did. 11 men behind the ball is not going to achieve anything. Especially when they are already 1-0 down.

That's Big Sam's mentality...going in just a goal down and hoped to sucker punch us. That's all they can hoped for.

Gutted with the control (82% possession) we had, we are only one up
