Well another poor result in a poor poor season, when I seen the team at the start obviously i was annoyed Torres wasn't playing but if he is not fit then he cant play. I thought we put out an attack enough team to win the game but to be honest I haven't seen any off it so cant comment.

Looks like any slim chance we had of fourth place is well and truly gone but we still have the UEFA Cup to look forward to. My main worry would be not letting Everton sneak up on us, so although are main focus now is the UEFA Cup I would still be keeping on eye on the league.

On a brighter note, Pompey winning in the Cup Semi Final means there should be another place in the league for UEFA Cup qualification next year as they cannot qualify for Europe as the are in administration - there the rules. So the extra place should be in the league - just in case we need it like

Unbelievable. All afternoon I was praying to hear news of a goal at Anfield and nothing ever came. I'll watch the game later but 26 attempts on goal with 7 on target and over 65% possession suggests it was like the draws we had last season against the likes of Stoke. Just can't believe that at home - in a game we absolutely had to win, against Fulham who absolutely didn't - that we couldn't stick the ball in the back of the net. Move ball toward net, put in net.

I am gutted, we should have beaten them hands down but once again without torres we have no cutting edge.

Forget about Rafa for a minute, if we don't get new investment or new owners this may the start of some bad years ahead of us.

Its amazing how people seem to omit from their observations that Murphy was also prolific in wasting possession ,as I and many thousands who used to watch from the Kop came to realise game after game ,or possibly maybe we just decided in unison to make Murphy the scapegoat  ??? he was wasteful in the extreme the moans that rang around the Kop everytime he blew the most simplest of passes was growing into a gradual crescendo of disapproval .
Seems some posters have a short memory ,yes he scored goals against the Mancs ,some arguably amongst  the finest free kicks ever  seen  at Old Trafford ,but people and fans alike used to constantly gripe at how careless he was and how profligate he was with the ball not unlike they whine and whinge  about Lucas Today..... funny that in it  ???

Here we are after six seasons of Rafa in charge and we are struggling to finish in the top six. I'm amazed that anybody needs to go any further. the more they claim to love the club the more they are prepared to put up with mediocrity. It's all very odd.

Mick, to be fair to Rafa, we did play superb football last season and challenged all the way. The source of our downfall is the debt that the owners put on the club and as a result, the inability to build up the squad in the summer to build on last season's promising run. Rafa has said that he had to 'balance the books' in the summer and our players had also highlighted the need for more investment. Why is there a need to pay back 100 million to a bank? Because the owners bought the club without actually spending their money that's why. So just stressing on 'Six seasons under Rafa' is kinda ignoring the other things that's happening at the club. I can truely say that if Rafa says enough is enough and fecks off, there is no way a top manager like Mourinho's gonna want to join us, and we well then truely have to deal with mediocrity.

As for the game, I thought that Aqualani did well. You can see that he's comfortable on the ball and could pass very well and looked lively and constantly moving. To me, Gerrard was poor. He didn't dominate the midfield when Aqua went off and almost looks :censored: off because Torres wasn't playing. IMO, he can't be selective about who he's playing with he needs to take command of the game and the team as he's well capable of doing that. It seems like adding another clinical striker is our top priority this summer. If Rafa doesn't get any transfer money, expect more of the same next season or worse because Gerrard now doesn't seem to give a :censored: to lead the team.

Why didn't we play the same formation we did against sunderland? Why presist on playing ngog alone upfront? Why play Gerrard behind the striker when all season he did f*ck all in that position?

For anyone who doesn't believe we will get fourth place......

From Rafa :

"I guarantee we will get fourth place" :D

touche

I think a lot of people doubt the Torres injury because Rafa is so FOS. Apparently he needs to be taken off after 60 minutes against brum but then plays near enough 90 in midweek before not playing yesterday. He might have an injury, all the doubt is because Rafa alienates fans

Terrible result, drawing at home to midtable mediocrity which is where we're heading. What do you do when your topscorer is injured, leave out your second topscorer and indeed start with none of the three scorers and key influences from the game against Benfica.

I haven't compared this season with others for a while, that is the first time we haven't won game 34 in the Premiership under Rafa by the way, but it is rather ominously like his first season in charge.

38 game Premiership seasons - points after 34 games (and final position)

47 (98/99) : P34 W13 D8 L13 F60 A44 PTS 47 (finished 7th)
50 (03/04) : P34 W13 D11 L10 F48 A36 PTS 50 (finished 4th)
54 (04/05) : P34 W16 D6 L12 F48 A35 PTS 54 (finished 5th)
56 (09/10) : P34 W16 D8 L10 F54 A33 PTS 56
58 (02/03) : P34 W16 D10 L8 F51 A36 PTS 58 (finished 5th)

59 (00/01) : P34 W17 D8 L9 F60 A37 PTS 59 (finished 3rd)
59 (97/98) : P34 W16 D11 L7 F58 A37 PTS 59 (finished 3rd)

Just for information, we lost away to a relegated side in the last four games of 04/05 and couldn't beat boro at home. Comparisons I've made with 02/03 remain strong, we had kept 14 clean sheets by the 34th game as we have this season

What did eveyone expect him to anwser that reporter,

Nah we will finish 5th ,of course hes gonna say that .  :;):

Actually think he would say something like this if he wasn't confident he would bring Liverpool to fourth place at that time.

"What we need to do is focus on the next game, try to control the game again and see what happens"

Wish it can be so easy... perhaps it can if we have Messi.

Anyway, wouldn't be surprise if we didn't have Torres in the line up (to score or to pull the defenders towards him and etc.). Thought the team played well although we drew. Wont blame Rafa for this one.
