Liverpool v Arsenal Saturday 04/043/2017 KO 5:30pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

I get no satisfaction from this win whatsoever. The players are as two faced as Leicester.

The fact its next day and the thread is only 3 pages suggests the majority feel the same way.

Some of our link up play out there today though was right out of the top drawer, Mane, Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana were a joy to watch, as was Wijnaldum who has probably been our best player since the turn of the year.
Brilliant result and performance, well done.

Simply these players we have are runners and play their best when in space. Take that space away and let them find a way through skill and guile and they get found out ( Coutinho aside). We end up with 80% possession but an inability to break through their ten man wall. We need a free-kick specialist that can break dead-locks as if we had that we would be far better against these teams. No point parking the bus when losing 1-0!

If we can beat Burnley then it may reach 10 pages!

I think one of the reasons for our erratic form is that we lack belief, if we start well we tend to play well but if something goes wrong early doors especially against one of the lesser sides you can visibly see our shoulders drop. It's almost as if the players are saying to themselves I've seen this movie before and it doesn't end well.
To be fair the players do try to get back into games (we ran 121 km versus Leicester) but there's no genuine belief there, they are going through the motions and hoping something will happen as opposed to actually believing it will.
Why they can't take confidence from games like yesterday's and the recent match against Spurs though is beyond me, instead of letting their heads go down when we go behind why don't the players collectively say to themselves 'we've wiped the floor with better sides than this lot, time to roll our sleeves up!'

Tricky one that, yes we need the clubs around us to drop points but Everton are flying themselves at the moment, in fact they haven't lost a league game since we turned them over at Goodison back in mid December!
There's been some impressive results in this run of theirs as well (e.g 4-0 win against Manchester City, 3-0 win versus Southampton, 2-0 away win at Leicester, putting 6 past Bournemouth etc).
Add a win away at Spurs to that lot and the momentum they'd have would be scary.
A draw would be the best result for us but if that doesn't happen I want Spurs to win, I couldn't be doing with Everton making a late charge and getting involved in the fight for a top 4 place. This season has been bad enough without that happening.

They just need to beat Spurs, Man U and Arsenal in their remaining fixtures, that's it. All the remaining fixtures, they can lose or draw...

Yesterday was a massive win. We need to go on a run and it has to be now. Getting to that stage where our inconsistency is going to hurt us and has to be ironed out. City and spurs seem to have run into some form and we need to stay on their coattails and try and make it a fight between 5 teams for 3 places rather than two teams pulling away and it ending up a fight for one place between 3 teams.

Is it just me or does everton's season always seem to pick up after we've given them a good hiding?

Noticed that to. Was hoping they could take some points off spurs but the score line flattered the bitters somewhat today as spurs were comfortably the better team

It's a real weird one. Watching the game, obviously I was over the moon at the performance but these dodgy recent results just tinged my overall enjoyment when we have these great wins. This is LFC and the bar is set high and good performances coupled with equally poor performances are not acceptable for a club like us.

I'm hoping this result is a turning point and from now on in we go and do a job on the lesser sides starting with Burnley. I don't want no more excuses, no more trying to work out whether its the manager/players/owners etc to blame. We know what Burnley will come and do and we need an answer to it and just go there and get the win. I don't care if it's 4-0 or 1-0, the players have to go out there and just get the job done.

It's a crucial part of the season now and our early season form has meant we are still in a good position but things simply have to get better starting from now otherwise we can kiss top 4 goodbye
