LEEDS UNITED VS LIVERPOOL - carling cup discussion

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby europian-kings » Sun Sep 20, 2009 11:46 pm

Been a while since the good old Leeds V Liverpool games. Fair enough with Leeds now in league 1 and Benitez sure to make many changes to our squad, it will not be the match it once was. But a good chance for the younger/fringe players to get a run out and show what they have got.

Last 10 head to heads:

February 29, 2004 Leeds Liverpool 2-2
October 25, 2003 Liverpool Leeds 3-1
March 23, 2003 Liverpool Leeds 3-1
October 19, 2002 Leeds Liverpool 0-1
February 03, 2002 Leeds Liverpool 0-4
October 13, 2001 Liverpool Leeds 1-1
April 13, 2001 Liverpool Leeds 1-2
November 04, 2000 Leeds Liverpool 4-3
February 05, 2000 Liverpool Leeds 3-1
August 23, 1999 Leeds Liverpool 1-2

Liverpool last 3 games: W,W,W
Leeds' last 3 games: W, D, W

Current league standings:

Premier League:
1.
2.
3.Liverpool

League 1:
1. Leeds

Going to be a tricky game and i think leeds will be really up for it! Im going for a 2-1 Liverpool with Vornin getting 1 and auerlio free kick the other.

Shall be a tricky game, no doubt it will be a team of reserves and maybe a few first team players such as Babel, Kyrgiakos, Aurelio and the Voronator.

Whats the bet Rafa says something about the refs and the manc game yesterday?

And it will be percieved as Rafa's cracking up and beyond the pale again.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

agger: still injured

aurelio: only just coming back from injury so wouldn't have thought he would start

lucus and spearing in the middle: ?? can't see him going with that maybe mash and lucus??

babel: playing him on the right is a good call, thought he did well there sat and i have said he should get a run there for god knows how long

maybe kuyt up front with voronin  to start the match

no more holes to be picked now   :D  :D

Couldn't care less about the Carling Cup. If it's a forum for giving the younger lads a run-out, then so be it....

If anything it just proves once again Rafa was spot on before.

No Simon Grayson.

Am off to this looking forward to it. First time I've been to Leeds since we played them in the Fa Cup down there in 2001 when we took about 6,000.

I just hope it doesn't go to extra time. I've gotta get back afterwards. :D

I hope we play most of the youngsters in this one. Although I would like to see us actually have a decent run in this competition this year so that they can get some experience, rather than having an early exit.

Last time I went to Leeds we got knocked out of the UEFA cup (Fairs cup)back in 1971   :D hopefully we can do better this time!

I think we will win a close game 2-1
