New Liverpool signing Boudewijn Zenden today spoke of his delight after completing his free transfer move from Middlesbrough to Anfield.
The Dutch star signed his contract this morning and was paraded in front of the media at Melwood at lunchtime.

Before the press conference he spoke exclusively to Liverpoolfc.tv and revealed the scenes he witnessed from the club's supporters during and after the Champions League final in May helped convince him to make the move to Anfield.

Zenden said: "I am absolutely delighted to be signing for Liverpool. When a club like this comes in for you then you don't need asking twice.

"Rafa Benitez was a big influence in me coming here but the biggest influence was Liverpool FC as a name and its magnificent fans.

"I watched the Champions League final in a hotel and the thing that stuck in my mind was at half time when we were 3-0 down and all you could hear were our fans singing You'll Never Walk Alone.

"I saw the scenes from the parade of the city and they were absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to play my first game in a Liverpool shirt."

WE were 3-0 down and OUR fans singing!!! He feels right at home already!!!!

Yeah i remember he used to be awesome for Barca, and now hes in his prime.

Anyone notice how even he speakes better quailty english than Joe Cole.

The Liverpool top is sacred.

There was a very brave girl at the Oasis concert I was at on Saturday in Manchester wearing our home shirt.

Was funny, when the gig finished and we were just leaving the stadium, me and our Dave started running sharpish for our bus home, but we still had time to join in a chorus of der-der-der-der-der-der-der-der with some lads!!!!

Some would argue it was the best song of the night!!!!

was just gonna say, what numbers he gonna get?

Thats another midfielder, along with....Nunez, Gerrard, Hamann, Garcia, Alonso, Kewell. and possibly mark gonzales the winger.
whos gonna spend most of the time on the bench this season?

Also, I do think Zenden is a class player, bargain for free too!

just one mystery surrounds him..Anyway know why Boro didnt offer him a new contract and let his contract run down?

im not to sure if gonzalez is going to stay on the bench, I think rafa is going to use him alot on the wing.

I got the feeling from his interview that they did offer him a new contract, but when Liverpool came in he couldn't resist.

I was talking to a couple of players in the bar last night, one of which was with Zenden at Chelsea (Forssell). He said he really really rates him, couldn't believe it when Chelsea let him go and that the Dutchman is a absolute top bloke and really good for team spirit etc etc. He is convinced he'll do really well for us and I hope he's right and that I'm wrong, 'cos I don't rate him at all.
BTW, I think we should have looked at Forssell for 3 mill'. The only doubts about him are his fitness and he was absolutely adamant last night that his knee is A1. If he bangs another 20 goals in at Brum this season then he'll cost somebody 10 mill'.
