I'd say he's on his last legs. Should move to Scotland imo now. Would be a good place to end his career and people would still see him as the player he was rather than the player he's becoming.

He's in danger of doing a David Seaman...

yeah, the epl is the wrong place for a player like him- injury prone and pushing on. in scotland it wont be as fast paced and he wont be exhausting himself for internationals
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

I agree with Stu.

Keane is still a very good player and still has some miles left in him yet, but he's not the player he was and I think that Viera and Gerrard are both better than him now.

Keane is still better than Gerrard at holding possession but every other part of Gerrard's game is now superior.

Gerrard showed last season that he is the best central midfielder in the premiership but Keane and Vieria have lead their teams to numerous titles and cups.  Gerrard will have to do the same to gain the same recognition.

Vieira is better than Steven Gerrard.

I agree that Vieira is better than Gerrard, and now that Gerrard has eclipsed Keane the next task for him is to match Vieira.

However, he needs to learn how to retain possession and influence games through his dominance of possession rather than try to hit killer balls every time.

In what ways would you argue that then stu (Im not saying either way just interested why). i prob agree with you overall he doesnt have the same influence on the game, his team mates and the opposition but as a football player I actually think Gerrard is better.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

I'd argue the other way. Gerrard has more influence, he just uses it wrongly in my opinion.

He to often wastes possession (however there where major signs of improvement in his game last season at club level in this area).

He doesn't yet trust his team mates enough (which is partially understandable). He is technically not as good, his touch is sometimes heavy and his passing can be to strong at times.

He isn't as calm as Vieira either and i think Vieira reads the game better and has more football intelligence in general on the pitch. Vieira dominates the middle of the pitch better than Gerrard ever will in my opinion and i think Vieira is better in a defensive role.

However i feel Gerrard is more influencial as he controls more areas of the pitch, he does alot more work out wide than Vieira and i think has the capability to score far more goals.
