Is it because he is a horrible little welsh tw.at who not only turned down the chance to sign for the club that we love, not once but twice, after stringing everyone of us loyal fans along saying that he was going to sign for us, time after time after time, but he insulted us upon leaving by saying he was going to win things a "the biggest club in the world" and after winning the sum total of fuc.k all decided to take the money and run to a joke of a club like Newcastle and insult their fans by reassuring hte press "I'll be fit for England" despite the fact that he is being paid £120K a week by them and despite the fact that 25,000 of them turned out to shout his name when he signed ?

yup, that's about the long and the short of it :nod

I was in the Kop for Owens return, and I thought the boos were a bit tongue in cheek, as were "where were you in istanbul/you should of signed for a big club" chants. Owen got a good reception in the second half, and rightfully so.
Owen didn't turn us down in the summer, he just didn't have the bottle to sit it out and wait for us. He knows as well as us that he's f*cked up twice now, and I'm sure he'll get it right third time around in the summer.

Because he is professional and dosn't live his life in the media which leads to complete and utter shit being spouted.  he's a traitor, he tried to do a macca, he turned down liverpool to go to newcastle,

All b@llocks imo ,,   HE MADE A MISTAKE, A BIG FECKER BUT A MISTAKE ALL THE SAME[B]

he got booed because he's not openly passionate about football imo like alan shearer, which makes people recent him because he has had the chance to do what most would sell a kidney for (pulling on a red jersey and have the kop sing your name,) and decided he would listen to his advisors and by doing so left the club where he grew up move to a heartless club that by brand names not players.

Lets not forget he scored goals there and left with the fans liking him.

I would love owen back because of his attitude and class, two reasons why rafa wanted him back.

and if he manages to get away from tyne side watch all the traitor, welsh, money grabbing start kissing his a$$ when the goals start going.

Ian rush didn't get booed because he got lucky and came back. fowler never got booed because he openly loved the club and showed it.

i never booed owen when newcastle returned to anfield. at the end of the day, he made a mistake and he's living to regret it. as far as i'm concerned we've moved on since he left and are a far better team for it.

I didn't like to hear the boos and whistles. I also think not everyone did so, and 2000 booing is enough to have a decent boo. but then I wasn't there.

As a red player, I followed him more than to others in La Liga, ad everytime he talked about Liverpool he talked with respect, and love. And when he left Madrid, he said he preffered to come here rather than to Newcastle. He made a mistake yes, but then, he's human and he regreted it. Even Gerrard had temptations after all. I know you understand far better than me LFC, but I found the boos harsh.

He was booed because he played us for fools for years,or more precisely, took the :censored: out of Houllier and a great number of blinkered reds ...playing when he wanted, whingeing about his strike partners, taking a rest because he didn't fancy the winter months and then deliberately stalling on a new contract until it was too late for Benitez to replace the :censored:.

Ola Mr Benitez wrote:I thought it was a disgrace that h was booed.  Michael Owen was kept Liverpool from slipping into being a mid table team virtually single handed whilst Houliier was in charge.

He beat Arsenal in the FA cup final

People have very short memories... and lets be honest here Fwoeler is a great player... but I 'd rather have signed Owen.. infact signed them both!!!

Robbie is GOD - Far more important to the true heart of Liverpool, he loves us and we love him.

Because Robbie Fowler took a paycut to rejoin the club, and Michael Owen took a pay rise to join Newcastle!

Why should that get in the way of a good story?
