The Run In:  What do we expect

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby The Good Yank » Thu Feb 21, 2013 11:35 pm

Well, We are out of Europe now.  Out of the FA Cup.  We've got eleven games left until the end of the season.  All in the league obviously.
In March we have:

Wigan away
Tottenham at home
Southampton away
Aston Villa away

In April we have:

West Ham at home
Reading away
Chelsea at home
Newcastle away

In May we have:

Everton at home
Fulham away
QPR at home

Only three games against the now famous table of "Those ahead of us"  And all three of those are at home.

Six away games, none of which look very intimidating.  I think it's fair to say we could have a pretty decent run in.  How far up the table
we can climb in this period is also down to how others perform as well as ourselves.

How do you think we'll do?

What would you think is acceptable?

Where do you think we'll finish in the table?

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

If we play the same way as we played against Swansea we will do just fine
Sturridge is the key and if he stays fit we can climb up the table

Defense needs addressing. Carra needs to return to the bench and I wouldn't mind seeing Wisdom taking Johnsons place as well.

to be fair to rodgers we are now starting to look the part. that zenit side we just steamrollered beat milan at the san siro earlier on in the season.
i think we look as good as anyone in the country right now and i just hope we can hold on to our best players in the summer.
pretty sad to think that luis suarez might only have 11 games left in a red shirt.

C'mon guys, lets try to keep this to the questions asked.

I think we'll win 6 or 7.  draw a couple and possibly lose one (We've not won at Wigan in like 4 years)

I can see a slip up.  But hopefully without any distractions from other competitions I hope it doesn't happen.

If we can win 8 out of the last 11 I see us finishing 5th.  I do think that's a bit of a big ask though with 6 away games and our toughest 3 remaining are at home.

It's really tight with Everton above us & Swansea & West Brom below.

7-8th would be the realistic finish for us, I'd rule out 6th- onwards based on our form over the whole season so far. If we could replicate the effort we showed against Zenit I'd say anything is possible but knowing this group of players fairly well we will still have a few "shocks" in before seasons end.

Can Rogers rally the troops when there is nothing left to play for?. I don't believe the players will play with the same intensity to get back into the Europa league.

out of the 33 points available i reckon we will be good for 20 or there about.
i still think we will finish 6th or 7th and hopefully ahead of the bitters.
i also think anything between 6th and 9th will be acceptable for this year.

The last two displays, where we have scored 8 and conceded 1 should really be looked on with pride, hope and optimism. Seeing Sturridge, Coutinho and of course Suarez shuld be enough to get anyone drooling and they will score even more goals before the season is over.
If people dont see it that way, why the fu'ck do they support LFC?
???

If people don't see your myopic view, they shouldn't support LFC, you mean?

We score goals great, you've stated that but you conveniently left out the fact we ship in too many goals.

With Suarez and Sturridge i would go into every game believing we can win it simple as. If the players play like they did last night we will climb the table.

So to answer your question TGY

I can see 9 wins 2 draws.

I think we will finish 6th however im not ruling out top 4 especially with Spurs' Run in

Acceptable - A place in Europe

To echo Thommo I think Suarez will stay
