As reports this time last year shown Liverpool had first option on Michael Owen if he became available, but who put this first option on because it dosn't seemed to be Rafa. As he said this week he is not looking for a striker and as rumours say he is not happy with the way michael left. So if Rafa didn't was it Rick Parry and David Moores who has this written in the contract as they feel that the anfield legend would return but maybe not so soon. The feeling i got around the club and ground yestaday was that the fans want michael bk but rafa dosn't but are we waiting for the chairman & chief executive to but in and make this deal happen who knows but it seems strange to me putting a first option on a player then not acting upon it.

been listening to talk sport in work and they reckon owens coming back to liverpool.
if he does come back i hope its rafa`s desicion 100% and not down to adverse pressure from moores and parry. we all know what happened the last time a chairman tried to tell rafa who to sign

For me,rafa will not splash another 10-14m to bring owen back to us. Some mentioned that owen can promise a 20++ goals per season like he did last time with us and he is a well-known world class finisher of all. I will refuse this because cisse will be there to score for us plus the talisman performance of alonso and gerrard.
Reds is the sacred colour before this world was born.

But its not 12-14m, in real cash its about 4-6m extra, which although not an ideal situation but a reasonable price considering. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed both Figo and Owen in the forthcoming weeks.

Cisse is capable of 20+ goals but before Owen left we we're all relishing the prospect of a Cisse-Owen partnership.

I don't think Rafa will sign Owen back, after all it was Rafa who told Owen to leave when he was :censored: us around over a new contract.

Yeah, no matter what price, bringem on  :bump

Only for reasonable price, and I'd think twice if I'd get him.

yeah they have him at 4/7 to still be at Madrid, 2/1 to be at Liverpool and 10/1 to be at Manure. Those prices are by August 13th. Looks like Sven aint gonna get his wish that Owen goes to Manure. I reckon we're going to sign him, I really do.

surely this was for business reasons. was rafas first task not to go to portugal and persuade owen (abd sg) to stay and sign a new contract.

out of everyone surely rafa can understand a players desire to play for madrid

if he let him go for 8 million I would assume he doesn't rate mo very highly.

liverpool asked madrid for double the figure they sold him for  but because he wanted to leave and join madrid rafa had no choice but to take the 8 million plus that great player nunez  lets not forget nunez now !!!

Arsenal:

-Wenger doesn't seem to want a striker, I think they are saving the money they have for a midfielder.

Chelsea:

-Now with Crespo back, they aren't going to go after Owen

Manchester United:

-Not sure Fergie wants him, and I've heard that they have to sell Saha in order to get Owen but nobody is interested in Saha

Newcastle United:

-Just got knocked out of the Europe, they can't offer him anything now

Just leaves us then
