The fernando torres thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Lets all wait and see what Torres does in a Liverpool shirt, possibly the number 9, now God has left :sniffle

I also think it's important Torres doesn't get the impression he is number 1 striker at Anfield because that will bring complancancy like it did with Dirk Kuyt towards the end of last year, although I know many of disagree with that. If Torres is being kept on his toes then he will be a much better player for us than if he knows he can play badly and still be the first name on the team sheet the following week. So Rafa has to keep all the strikers on their toes this year.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

I dont feel like being part of Atletico anymore, now that the club's darling player has been sold. I dont know what dark porkish interests moved the corrupted management to sell Torres to Liv'pool instead building a good team around him.
I have no doubt of what Torres's going to do, hes a superb player.
Liv'pool has been one of my top favourite teams cause the Kop mainly, and since Rafa's arrival, you became my top british club. From now on, you have +1 supporter

Liv'pool & F. Torres YNWA!!!

Some time ago I listened to a Spanish commentator (Santi Segurola, maybe hated by Sabre as he's an Athletic Club supporter) that I respect much that the early spot of Torres on the first team as well as his early role as natural leader of AM had harmed him a lot. We all know how this business works: Messi is already Maradona and, some years ago, Torres was already Van Basten...I think all that environment hasn't brought any good to him so far, so....linking all this with this thread....my opinion is that the fact that here the team is not gonna work for him and he's not gonna have to be the leader at all (there is a bunch of players that play that role - Jamie or Steve as the best examples)  is going to be good, as I truly think he's much more talented than what he has shown... If he went on pressing himself and trying "to be Van Basten", he wouldn't have been a good signing at all, at least at this price.
Anyway, now he's stopped being an Indian (AM players and fans) and has turned a Red...I will be supporting him till the end.

So, if the deal was for £26.5M but Garcia went to them for £4M
is the price for Torres £22.5M?

Different papers are reporting different prices

22M for Torres doesn't sound too bad.

Especially after the recent 16M transfers of Henry and Bent.

Who cares about the odd 1/2 mill when we are getting a real quality player for the money. I do feel that Garcia is worth more than the money they are paying though.

Been a long night,

irrespective of the Garcia fee, it's £26.5M by all accounts.
