i reckon he`ll stay and i reckon people should stop reading too much into whats in the press, the lad has just won the biggest prize a footballer can win and he chose to celebrate that wearing a liverpool scarf around his neck. that`ll do for me untill he himself says otherwise.
The club is in no position to sign "World Class" players, because we are skint. People can talk about mythical new owners announcing their spending plans pre takeover all they want, it doesn't change the fact that we are skint. Neither does it change the fact that we aren't in the Champions League and that's whee the top players want to play. We continue to pay heavily for last seasons debacle.
Torres is staying.. when our world champ dons a Liverpool scarf on the greatest night of his life.. how the newspaper goss makes these pages vibrtae never ceases to astound.. world class is what he is an no ammount of 'dosh' can REPLACE WC..
I've said all along that after much soul searching he'll stay, and I agree Zara I think he will. I think he'll like the way Roy is going about things too.
Yep, confirmed. He's staying. Nice one Nando. Now don't get injured and get us 35 goals next year. Last season was a blip. Here we go! Woy's Wevolution.
I tell you this right now, if he's staying then I for one am feeling VERY upbeat about the way things are going. Lets look at it:
We've lost Benayoun, a player who has wanted away for a while, and gained Joe Cole who's a far better player. We've also gained 6 million quid, which hopefully we will spend on a good left back (my own preference is for Figuroa).
We've lost Riera, who I quite liked but was a bit of a ponce and whose head was far too square for his own good. We banked a bit of cash as well. We look like getting 5 mill for Insua which is top dollar, and we've invested it in this Danny Wilson kid, and we have a bit of change out of the whole proceedings. We've told Deggen to find a new club, we're thinking about doing the same witht he Greek and Maxi. No probs from me with any of that.
We're selling Masherano who I think is a disruptive influence. Hopefully we'll get top dollar and we can buy some players who actually want to play for us.
We've kept our best two players despite many predictions to the contrary.
I did expect good things from him but everything he has done so far has been better than I expected. Signing Joe Cole was a very very good move IMO as he is a class player and probably helped convince Gerrard and Torres to commit.
As mick has just said, he is also making good sales.
I actually think that Roy deploys similiar tactics to Mourinho. They both like a defensive team that rarely goes out of position. He often plays the two rows of four so the wingers will be tracking back a lot. Defensive tactics certainly aint the prettiest but they have proven to work.
And just before anyone mentions it, im not saying Roy is as good as Mourinho just that they deploy the team in a simliar way.
just seen on SSN that Maxi's linked with Espanyol as well
