Mostly down to Hodgson's comments about Torres having a "beef with the club" mate, just fans and the media trying to read between the lines.

Would take him or Higuain.  Either would do me.

I see the headline and the report about Mascherano wanting to leave but the report doesn't go into any detail about Hodgson stating he is confident Torres will stay. I am sure that if it states it as a headline then they will probably expand on it at some point. If Roy has stated this in the press conference then I am very confident Torres will stay as Roy doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would say something for the sake of it (and to keep the fans happy).

If this is true then Roy has absolutely done the job he was initially asked to do - keep the star men in Gerrard and Torres.

Not overly bothered about Mascherano as I think we all expected he would go and he is replaceable.

When you are a Champions League team and finish 7th in the league you run the risk of losing your best players, the very real risk as we are now discovering. People don't like to hear it because it naturally casts aspertions onto the previous managerial regime, but top players don't want to play against Macedonian teams in July, followed by countless trips to the oputposts of Eastyern Europe. It is a simple fact of football life I'm afraid.

If he does want to go and its an if, i dont think that would be the reason why Mick. Otherwise why Gerrard staying, Cole coming here, Pepe just signed new contract, If he wants to leave ,me personaly i think its far more than that, Last season was a blip a big blip but never the less , No one saw that coming , id defy anyone to say truthfully that at the start of last season they thought we would finish were we did, Yes the manager was to blame as were all the players who played them games, At the moment yes were not in Champions league for next season, but if you look at it the way you have just put it do you think then that Fernando hasnt got the confidence in Roy and the players who are still here and those that have been brought in to get us back in that position at the end of the season. Everyone who has championed Roys appointment has confidence that he will lead us in the right direction and it will be a better season that last year, So if he dosnt wanna just miss out on it for one season does that tell you he dosnt think we will get back there , iff you see what i mean,

I honestly dont see where we finished last season has Fernando making his mind up to go , as i said if he wants out its something else

Whatever the reasons, if he does want away at a time like this then it only proves to me that we completely misjudged the lads character, and all his talk was just that, it never really meant much.
To be honest, the way the lads ignoring the feelings of the fans leaves a bad taste.
Even if they do talk him around I can only see the same scenario next season, if we don't win at least one major trophy.
Do we really need this cr-ap when we need to be united like never before.
I'm at the point now where I want the club to play a bit of hardball and come out and say that the player is under contract to LFC and is going nowhere.
Waiting on prima donnas is not the way forward, if the grass is greener elsewhere then he can go under the clubs terms and not when he feels like change  :veryangry

I don't agree with this.  Like Gerrard (and Masch) before him, Torres seems prepared to wait until he reports to Melwood to make public his plans.  I know it can be excruciating to be kept in the dark and wondering but I think it's fair for footballers who've been involved in the media circus that is the World Cup to have some true time off from all the rumours, press reports etc. before jumping back into the media spotlight.  Fair play to the lad for going on vacation and turning his phone off.  As you say, a player of Torres' calibre will always have suitors and plenty of rumours swirling around him but I don't think he's required to sooth our fears every five minutes during the silly season.  Let the fella enjoy his holidays and we'll see where he stands for sure come Monday.

By all means under normal cicumstances
But Nando knows exactly whats going on, hes talked to the club and refused to commit himself.
Do you think for a minute the club wouldnte have just released a statement confirming hes staying?

Ignoring the feelings of the fans? Hmm, so last week when Spain won the World Cup for the first time in their history, one of the first things Torres thinks about doing is don a Liverpool scarve and have his picture taken in the dressing room with the trophy itself. Not a Spain scarve or flag. A LFC scarve. Very insensitive of you, Torres!

For me, that jesture says everything there is to know on what his intentions are. He wants to stay here. It's really all down to how the clowns on our board handle him, and if Fernando wanted to leave, it would have nothing to do with CL football and more to do with the club's aspirations and ambitions. How does a club show it's ambition? Why, by signing world class players, of course.

The only way to settle this ship is to get new owners in who will reveal their short, medium and long term plans to thye players.

'This is what I´m prepared to spend ove rthe next few years, heres the new stadium and I want to win the league.'

Only then will the players regain focus.
