Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

he already has named a price £70m and the 2 clubs interested have the funds to pay it.

If he wants to see the club go on the up and do well then surely him being here is key to that happening. You want champ.league footie Nando? make it happen lad. be the hero. score the goals that make us finish higher than 4th place. it's a challange but it's do-able for this team. Joe Cole will run his nuts off to get this team up there but we need everyone to pull in the same direction, something we didn't have last season.

I doubt Hodgson will decide that. The club isnt in a position to name a price and not budge.  Anything approaching £50 mil I think the board would accept.

i tend not to take note of "sources" on this issue. spent the whole day yesterday listening to various radio programmes saying they'd heard "reliable" sources that he was off to chelsea when the mere fact is the lad's on holiday at the moment. sky sports news is just as bad.

all i'll say is i'm still confident he'll stay. i just can't fathom the thought of him back at anfield in a chelsea shirt. if jhe left during this window then he's half the guy i thought he was.

I like most others want him to stay, but if he has to go please let it be back to Spain. I couldn't bear him in a City or Chelsea shirt, and he would get stick at Anfield for sure - the whole thing would leave a sour taste.

Only positives if he leaves is if we can buy players with the money, after all Torres missed so much of last season.

We could look back on it as a good thing - clutching at straws and looking hard for positives I know......just thinking of all the young kids with his name on the new shirt.

Echoes my thoughts, I don't think he'll go but if he does, he can rot :(

since some posters are worried that the money received would be sent to clear debts instead of team building, i guess a cash + players exchange would be good. 50million + Bellamy and Ireland would be good. this leaves enough to make a bid for someone like Dzeko and/or Defoe.

the thing is, this is a player who we took a chance on when nobody else was willing to stump up the money and turned him into a world class player. he loves the club and yet there's talk of him bailing after our first really poor season, and to make it worse it could be to chelsea after he's categorically stated that he'd never play for another club in this country.

he owes us another season imo. we could essentially have forced him to play through injury towards the end of last season if we were that desperate to win the europa league. instead we let him have an operation which meant he went to the world cup and now possesses a winners medal. we also changed our medical staff to try and get him right.

with the issue of the club ownership still to be sorted the least he could do is stay for one more season to see how things turn out. if he ever came back to anfield in a chelsea shirt he'd get some serious abuse on the scale of what owen gets imo and the two couldn't be further apart in terms of their respective attitudes to football.

it would be a bitter pill to swallow, especially after Torres wore a Liverpool scarf during the World Cup celebrations.
