Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think a lot hinges on what Gerrard does.

Torres is likely to go if Gerrard gores, IMO.

I think Gerrard wont mind working with an English manager, and is more inclined
to stay rather than if we'd got someone like Pelligrini.

the torres situation is going to drag on for the whole summer.....

No rush for Torres talks

Fernando Torres insists there is no rush to discuss his future with the Liverpool hierarchy.

The Spain star has been linked with a big-money move from Anfield this summer with the Reds having failed to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League while Rafa Benitez has been replaced by Roy Hodgson as manager.

There has been speculation the Reds are ready to cash in on their prize asset, who is currently at the World Cup with Spain, as they have debts of around £350million.

The 26-year-old striker, who is under contract until 2013 with the option of a one-year extension, wants the low-down on Liverpool's plans before committing his future to the Reds.

And although he plans to take a well-earned break after the World Cup, he intends to speak with Anfield bosses upon his return to Merseyside.

"I suppose that when the World Cup finishes I will speak to the people at Liverpool and they will explain to me the real situation of how things are at present, the future of the club, and I will talk to the new coach," he told El Mundo Deportivo.

Holiday

"There's time for that, but I want to finish the World Cup then go on holiday as I haven't had a holiday for three years.

"I want to rest and then there will be time to talk about all of that - the situation isn't going to change whether we talk sooner or later."

The former Atletico Madrid striker refused to rule out a move away this summer but insisted there would be no developments while he is still in South Africa.

"Honestly, teams won't be able to do anything until the World Cup has finished," he said.

"The players here prefer to wait - there is time."

European champions Spain face Germany in the second semi-final in Durban on Wednesday, with the final to be played on Sunday

If it was a simple decision he'd have simply said that he is staying.  But clearly he is thinking about leaving.  First it was after the World Cup.  Now that that time has almost come.. its after his holiday.

If you ask me, i think he is delaying. He'll see what offers are on the table in a few weeks time and make a decision.

All we can hope is that we get the right price for him if he does leave.  Same with Gerrard and Mascherano.

Are ya forgetting that Man City are completely loaded and are spending a looot of money?

We could get way more out of him than that if he goes to city. Maybe £60 Mill plus them two

Agreed.... he knows full well the fans all want to know what he intends to do and dragging it out till after the world cup whilst he goes on hols will not help the situation. This is probably time needed for the clubs to negotiate a deal. I hope we don't get ripped off by City/Chelsea. At the end of the day Fernando Torres is contracted for 4 years more still. If they want him they will have to make a stupidly good offer that cannot be refused and that isn't any 35mil plus micah richards either. Im talking 80Mil or 70Mil plus a player.

To be honest we could even push them past 100Mil if we wanted too. They were prepared to offer that for Kaka so why not Torres? And if Fernando prefers to go to Chelsea then :censored: him he is contracted for 4 years. Either get uncle Roman to cough up or honour your contract.

Im sick of this already and it's only just begun.

We'd also be contributing to City being an unstoppable force though. Even if it is inevitable. They've already signed Silva and Toure and probably much more to follow.

Wonder why they keep buying strikers.  60M and 2 players would be hard to say no to though.

Torres will either stay put or move abroad and my money is on the former. As for Cole, I think if Hodgson can make him feel like he will be a kingpin in the side and key part of his plans theres a shot he may come in but I do agree with others when they say he would probably stay in London. Still, at least we are trying to bring in good players and that in itself gives us hope this transfer window whatever Cole decides.

I think signing Joe Cole would go some way to convincing the likes of Gerrard and Torres to stay.  He's surely the type of signing they would be impressed by.  Cole's injury record does concern me, and he's a wee cu.nt too, but a quality player no doubt.

True, we are giving City ammunition but I think we would be better off with 80 odd million.

And Like littlehobo said, he only managed 22 starts and his fitness is just getting worse. £80 Million for a player that can only manage to start 22 games a season, regardless of his ability, is a steal imo

If Torres leaves Liverpool i can only see him going to Barcelona. Why go to Italy? There football is on the decline and wouldn't his style. Barcelona would be good for Torres although the passing game doesn't suit Torres like in Spain it favours for Villa then Torres. If Torres goes Chelsea well hell will break loose on broughton! And where would he fit in? If Torres left i wouldn't hate on him he loves Liverpool but with state we are in it's not competitive. Money doesn't always equate to success though. And i believe Roy can convince him our squad isn't that bad to be perfectly honest it just underachieved. But the main point is Torres wants to see signings, Roy must get the signings bang on otherwise he'll of wasted money, plenty of times Rafe did this. Arda Turan would be a good start ;)

i love torres but he is so injury prone, its so frustrating having a player like him who scores a few hatricks then gets injured for a month, then takes him 4 games to back to fitness

id sell him for the right price

only problem is world cup form sadly matters and no way will teams pay more than 50 million for him now, when david villa went for only 25

ok i know its not about Torres but he said this, about Joe Cole

Jamie Redknapp on SSN " I believe he's been talking to Liverpool, so that might be the move that suits Joe because the Kop would love a player like that, he's got the skill and he lights the crowd up when he plays so I think that would be a good move for Joe and definately for Liverpool.......... .."

Would be a great free addition to any top side.
I have to be honest when I say that I always preferred him starting against us for Chelsea instead of coming off the bench.
Never really did it over 90 mins for me, anyone else think he made more of an impression coming off the bench?

What pisses me off,is when people say torres loves LFC. Well if he does he will stay regardless of the s.*i*e were in. He will still get his wages. And if he goes to cheatski he can fook right off.because that would show contempt to LFC imo
