Reminds me of an interview I read back in April

FERNANDO TORRES fears having to live with the effects of chronic long-term injuries if he stays in the Premier League much longer.

The Liverpool striker has endured a season of knee problems and his campaign was cut short when he returned to Spain for surgery to make sure he is fit for the World Cup.

Torres, who scored 18 goals in 22 league games this term, can't believe how players like team-mate Steven Gerrard and other experienced stars like Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney have coped with the physical demands of English football for so long.

The Spaniard is worried that his body can only take so much punishment before leaving him to suffer the effects beyond the end of his career.

He said: "The Premier League is such a tough competition and I have always admired this championship and the players who are here.

"This is my third season and I'm still amazed to see Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard, players who have been here a long time, still playing at such a high level and with such impressive rhythm because the English league really wears down a player.

"I just can't imagine what state I'll be in within five or six years if I continue to play here - it could easily give me problems when I stop playing. The physical level is superior to all other countries." FERNANDO TORRES fears having to live with the effects of chronic long-term injuries if he stays in the Premier League much longer.

But as i have said nothing what happens at this club any more throws up suprises. its just normal now , and its gonna carry on being that way until the four :censored:. stooges have gone,

I don't care anymore, I don't care if torres or gerrard leave, sure I will feel sad but I'll move on and so will Liverpool FC. The club is unique and it always will be unique, if the players don't understand that then leave. Liverpool was before Torres and Gerrard and will still be there after both leave.

He owes us one more season imo.

Like that matters in modern day football when money rules the roost. Depressing.

If we ever do sell Torres to somebody like Man City it will be for biggggg big money im talkin £80+ Million. For that we could buy 4 world class players that will be playing week in week out, unlike Torres who is injured every month.

All this speculation about Torres leaving has been brought on by his agent, they do it every summer, its to get the club to increase his contract and get more money. More money the player gets the more the agent gets. Simples.
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

thats the crux of it. Torres doesnt need the money, he on £100+ a week. ... but his agents not. Agesnt only make money (serious money) with new contracts and transfers

It's all well and good selling Torres for 80 mil and saying with that money we could get 4 world class stars you have to ask yourself 1. How much of the 80 mil would manager get and 2. How many world class stars go to a club that isn't in the CL.

Exactly Daws - if clubs know we got 80 mil to burn they are going to try and bleed evey single penny out of us - players like Milner are going for 30 mil because they know the buyer can afford it

So what if they are overpriced? Its the same with everyone these days.

To be honest Torres at 70 Mill is overpriced. He had two knee operations in the space of 6 months. As amazing as Torres is, what use is he if he is sitting in the physio room all the time.

£80 Million CAN benefit us more than Torres if the manager spends it well.

Very valid point dude, we need to keep class to get us back in the champ league, I think he will give us another season cos the lad is loyal, just hope he doesn't have the wrong people talking cr@p in his ear while he's in South Africa.

Regards to injuries, well he on;y gets so many because he is on his own so much upfront and hasn't had the support from the midfield, I think if we could play 4-4-2 it would suit Torres a lot more and he wouldn't get as many kicks and have to run the channels as much.
