He can score every type of goal, is quick, strong and good in the air. But I've also said before that with the injuries he's picking up on a regular basis he will be past his best before he's the wrong side of 30, mark my words. And he's 26 now. It's even possible that he'll never hit the 30 goal mark again, simply because he can't play that many games in a season. Knee injuries are bad news for players who rely on pace, and hamstring injuries are even worse - he's got problems with both. He's going to be in trouble soon.
Reminds me of an interview I read back in April
FERNANDO TORRES fears having to live with the effects of chronic long-term injuries if he stays in the Premier League much longer.
The Liverpool striker has endured a season of knee problems and his campaign was cut short when he returned to Spain for surgery to make sure he is fit for the World Cup.
Torres, who scored 18 goals in 22 league games this term, can't believe how players like team-mate Steven Gerrard and other experienced stars like Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney have coped with the physical demands of English football for so long.
The Spaniard is worried that his body can only take so much punishment before leaving him to suffer the effects beyond the end of his career.
He said: "The Premier League is such a tough competition and I have always admired this championship and the players who are here.
"This is my third season and I'm still amazed to see Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard, players who have been here a long time, still playing at such a high level and with such impressive rhythm because the English league really wears down a player.
"I just can't imagine what state I'll be in within five or six years if I continue to play here - it could easily give me problems when I stop playing. The physical level is superior to all other countries." FERNANDO TORRES fears having to live with the effects of chronic long-term injuries if he stays in the Premier League much longer.
