Whether Roy or any other manager succeeds is nothing whatsoever to do with getting rid of Benitez. If we buy Poulsen and use him in central midfield and he isn't good enough, it doesn't then follow that Lucas WAS good enough, because anyone with a set of eyes and clue can see that he wasn't.
Benitez had to go, that much was a given. Whether or not Roy will succeed is a different question entirely. Obviously he'll need to engineer an improvement and quickly if he is to get the chance to prove himself, but even if he doesn't we still did absolutely the right thing getting rid of Benitez.
