Agree Tommos perm, but it is the manager who is responsible for the mentality motivation tactics etc.

But is it too much to ask for a bit of passion or pride? A sense that they want to show the fans that even if the manager is a w@ker at least they will try their best for the fans?
I am probably asking too much but I dont think its alot to ask for from highly paid professionals.
I watched it again and Im so disappointed that our best players are the biggest culprits

The stats make grim reading for Liverpool FC manager Roy Hodgson, who last night tasted defeat for the ninth time in 29 games as Anfield boss - plunging the Reds to a 57-year low.

Wolves' win leaves Liverpool on just 22 points going into the New Year, their lowest tally at this stage of the season since 1953/54 when Don Welsh’s side was relegated.

Hodgson has still never beaten Wolves as a Premier League manager, while last night's visitors - bottom of the league before kick-off - had not won at Anfield since 1984.

The Reds have already lost to two of the promoted clubs this term - Newcastle away, Blackpool at home - and now find themselves just three points off the relegation zone and five points from the foot of the table.

The Blackpool defeat in October put Liverpool into the bottom three and - in the first statistical nod to the 1953/54 season - meant the Reds had got off to their worst league start for 57 years.

And Kopites will remember Liverpool's Carling Cup clash against League Two outfit Northampton back in September for all the wrong reasons, with Hodgson's side crashing out on penalties in what many considered to be the most embarrassing home performance since Worcester City in 1959.

While last night's loss also came at Anfield, Hodgson's away record with Liverpool so far is perhaps more of a cause for concern.

The Reds have been beaten six times and have managed only one win on the road in the league this season, scoring just six goals.

Hodgson has never won more than five away games in charge of a Premier League team in a single season; Rafael Benitez won only five away games in 2009/10 and it was not deemed good enough to keep him at LFC.

Benitez won 13 away games with the Reds in the 2008/09 campaign - the same amount Hodgson has won in his Premier League managerial career to date.

Roy Hodgson outburst is the straw that broke the camel's back'
After defeat to Wolves, Liverpool's fans reacted badly to criticism of their support, while also taking aim at underperforming players

Liverpool's supporters are gunning for their manager Roy Hodgson following the defeat by Wolves.
After Liverpool's season plumbed new depths with the 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves last night, supporters reacted fiercely to another disappointing result in an already turbulent campaign. Criticism of the manager, Roy Hodgson, on messageboards was fierce, particularly after he suggested the fans were not doing enough to help his side during games.

Fans reacted badly to Hodgson's comments. On the fan site, Red and White Kop, under a threat called "New low – Roy blames the fans", condemnation of the manager was universal. "This is the straw that broke the camels back," said a poster called Benimar Col. "To be fair to Roy he never had wholesale fans support, however hes done everything in his power to blame everyone else for the failings and to alienate the fans, he must think we are clueless when it comes to football, hes now i would guess 99% against him."

Another, andyrol, wrote: "Jeez. how thick is the man 'the players arent playing like they have before' er yeah and who's fault is that. an awful lot of other clubs would have had protests after matches to get him sacked after the derby 'smile' and/or the blackpool defeat, we as a match going support have not done anything but vocally back the team, up until about 60 mins of last nights game. even then the 'hodgson for england' chants encouraged a 'liverpool, liverpool' roar twice as loud. the man cant say anything right never mind football matters."

"Says more about him than us to be honest, if throughout your entire tenure you've managed to produce such drivel both on and off the pitch that you've never managed to see the 'famous' Anfield support maybe you ought to be looking in a mirror for the reason?" said Doc Evil.

There was a slight ripple of agreement with Hodgson's comments, however, with lachesis pointing out that negativity at Anfield has been festering for a while now. "Irrespective of the current position and manager, he is right," he said. "The team were booed when we drew with West Ham and Lucas [Leiva] was booed a few times as well. The current climate and circumstances are irrelevant to the comments which are correct (apart from when we have a 'big' game). But because it's Roy saying it, he will be shot down. Having said that at some stages this season when we've been down and out the crowd has actually got up and had a go, but usually it's a token effort lasting a few minutes at most."

Elsewhere fans were baffled by Hodgson's team selection. "Gerrard, Lucas, Raul Meireles and Kuyt," said Phantom Limb. "How was that ever going to look balanced? Raul and Lucas have looked decent over the last few months but were playing in a shape that they just didn't look comfortable with. Kuyt looked confused, popping up on the left flank from time to time. The absence of Maxi was equally confusing."

"It was clear that for most of the game they were all a bit confused and I have never seen chaos like it at Anfield for the last 20 minutes," said Entertaining@Home. "We had no shape – players were literally all over the place – midfielders were in defence, defenders were up front, strikers were out wide. It was incredible. Honestly never seen anything like it."

On the club's official site, Lizboy10 suggested the players should take responsibility for the poor performances too.

"Thats the bottom line unfortunately. Too many on these boards want to dream and tell their mates we have good players when plainly we dont. We only have 6 players we can move towards the top 4 with. With a new manager who can motivate FT, those players are FT, Stevie, Pepe, Raul, Johnson and Dan Agger. After that we have little quality. We ALL accept Roy must go but these players are poor and like I said we will only move up the table by losing the huge amount of dead wood we have. Ngog and Kuyt last night were absolute dross."

On the Liverpool Echo's website, the mood was similarly downbeat. aldostash said: "He shouldn't be sacked. If he had even an ounce of self-respect or dignity he'd do the honourable thing and hold his hands up and say he's not cut out for the job. You can't do the job without support from the terraces and Roy will never get that. He can't even command support from the players let alone the fans. He's breaking hearts staying in the job any longer."

Questions were also raised over who should replace Hodgson if he does exit Anfield. supadave said: "The only concern I have with sacking Roy is – who do we replace him with? I hope this is being looked into by NESV and they find someone who can take the club forward. I fear they won't make a change until the summer."

But it was this from alwaysred that summed it all up: "I am sorry to say that's the worst performance I have ever seen in 37 years."

I cannot just blame the manager for that display. Anyone who just blames Hodgson for that last night is deluded.
There was nothing from any of them except the greek who was at least trying.
That was a team who wasnt in the slightest bit ar'sed that they were making complete cu'nts out of themselves, and us last night.

I like you was unfortunate to lay out some hard earned.. on watching that display mate ..and yes the players have all but surrendered to the fact we our completely rudderless ,and their collective performances in the realization of this ,have been what could be described as shameless ....however even after our completely shambolic first half ,the players  still returned to the field devoid of any instruction surely they should have left that dressing room with the sting of some serious home truths still ringing in their assaulted ear drums ..... ?

sometimes the fit is wrong...last night showed it...roy has lost the team, he isn't the owner's choice....they brought in camolli who must see the reality

kenny is the best choice to right the ship, for the short term, then hire someone in the summer. why jump at the first name? plan then execute the plan. the fenway boys work that way and i bet they know who they want, but unfortunately must act now

Under-pressure Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson insists the backing he has had from the players and within the club itself makes up for his lack of support outside it.
The 63-year-old was the subject of fans' anger again in Wednesday night's 1-0 defeat at home to Barclays Premier League bottom side Wolves. He had to endure the Kop singing the name of former player and manager Kenny Dalglish, a living legend at Anfield, and also ironic chants of "Hodgson for England".
But the former Fulham boss said: "I have been lucky the support I have had has been from the players and within the club. I haven't had a lot of support from the fans ever since I came here. The fans have not been happy with what they have seen in the whole of 2010 and since I came here we have not won enough games to keep them happy."
He added: "That is understandable in the sense that they were hoping when I came here the latter part of last season would be forgotten and we would start flying again.
"That hasn't happened and as a result, as manager, you are the one in the firing line, but of course it doesn't make the job easier because it makes the players more nervous.
"I can only say as a manager you have to understand that fans care for their club and want it to do well and when it is not doing well they voice their disapproval.
"That is the way of football today. When you take on any job, especially a big job like this one, and results don't go the way people want - especially when you lose games at home - you are going to be a target for disapproval.
"I have to accept that and try to keep doing my job and try to improve things for the club and hoping that the results turn around.
"It is a vicious circle and in order to break it we have to start playing well and winning matches because if we don't they are going to reserve their support until such time as we can do it.
