When someone posted up an article claiming that Purslow had given Roy a list of players he would get rid of, some people took it to be completely believable (aha! he's been interfering! didn't we tell you), so why is it any less believable that he "initiated" the Cole signing? Pretty much all throughout the summer people on here were telling us that Purslow was conducting our transfer business. 

Cole was a purslow signing . Hodgson had no choice in the matter it was sorted before he was manager .

As for hodgson slagging cole in the press , not right atall . By all means tear him to pieces in private but not in the press.

Maybe so but Hodgson milked the signing for all it was worth and certainly gave the impression to the media that he was heavily involved in the transfer, as initially it looked like the sort of signing that contributed towards keeping Gerrard and Torres at Liverpool. Personally I didn't believe that as no acceptable offers had come forward for either player. And now because he is on skid row he is looking for any excuses he can find and that includes the totally unacceptable condemnation of players via the media.

I am at the end of my tether with Hodgson but I make no apologies for not joining in the childish abuse which frankly doesn't make us a lot better than him! THE SOONER HE GOES THE BETTER. Honestly couldn't see Sammy Lee doing a worse job as a temporary replacement. Hodgson if he wasn't before is becoming a very serious embarrassment and that must not be allowed to continue given that he is the public face of LFC.

Can't agree with the anaylsis of the Cole comments. Ideally he would have sent a more inclusive and upbeat message as that we're all in this together, but to say that Roy "slagged him off" or that he "condemned" Cole implies something much stronger than his comments actually suggest.

pousen isnt likely to come good.
He is already past 30 and is on the way down.
Lucas struggled for a long time but looks to be getting more confident and better with every game.
I wouldnt think there is even a comparison at the moment. The good thing is Roy appears to think the same if you look at his selections.

Rafa made us profit on Players?? Morientes 2m loss, Keane, 6m loss. Aquilanni 6m loss, Babel? Unknown. Garcia 3m loss. Riera 4m loss.

Too many looking through rose tinted glasses about Rafa's time here. He made many mistakes in the transfer market, but as rafa always did, always will do, he will blame the owners, tea lady, table manufacturers etc.

Konchesky isnt really that bad, he's just  asteady eddy. 4.5m gets you that these days. Poulsen= a dud. Def money lost. Raul? Well, im delighted to have him here.

So, there you go. Good and bad from both. Cole??? Personally I think he's past his best. A career that looks good on paper, but ultimately, the lad has looked in from the outside. Should of been a world beater with the talent he had.

Morientes was a top player, but he was garbage with us.

He also joined us when he is 29.

Most top players at that age who have never played in the English league before struggle when they join a top English side.

I use the comparison because Poulsen seems to be unable to pass to his team mates or stamp any authority on the game, much like Lucas. Lucas has improved only because he makes less mistakes, but I challenge anybody to tell me, out of his 143 appearances, 5 games where Lucas has been outstanding.
