I can't see it working out with Roy in the long term. It might turn in a week or two or in November and he probably would keep us up but he's not the man to take us to next level and would be unlikely to us back into the CL.

It would surely be better for all concerned if we end this now rather than let Roy carry on making a mess of things and turning LFC into a bigger mockery than it has already become. Surely Roy doesn't want his own repuation to be tarnished any further? He's just not cut out for the job I'm afraid. That said if he does at least get us back up to mid-table before he leaves that would be something.

Dear oh dear. Look whats happened. The lunatics have taken over the asylum.
Have you ever seen such knee-jerk, over-reaction in all your life?
Before I start, just lets get one thing clear. Anyone who calls me a "Roypologist" is nothing more than a go'bshite and can fu'ck right off. I have no need to apologise for wanting the man to succeed as the manager of LFC. I will say truthfully if he makes mistakes and at this moment he is. But I expect it from Hodgson as I would expect it from any new boss.
Now. Lets try and get some perspective in all of this. We have seen statements bordering on the hysterical on here (you know who you are) and others who are just plain stirring it up in a sly, seditious way (you also know who you are). I want to cover some of the topics which have been discussed as key to our current situation:

Dalglish:
There is no evidence whatsoever that Kenny taking over would have sorted the players, the owners or our plight in general. He has not managed for 10 years and those who point out his record need to stop chatting sh'it. It is irrelevant to this era. He also abandoned us and said he was finished wih football only to emerge 8 months later as manager of Blackburn. Great player. Great manager (then) Has had  his day.

Benitez:
It truly amazes me when people say he was sacked for coming 7th. I say thank fu'ck the season ended in may because if it had lasted till July we could have been relegated, so bad was the football. Those who go on about Benitezes record would do well to remember this. Champions league winners 2005, losers 2007 and then decline until last years non qualification. His record in the league was sporadic and the only time we came close was two seasons ago when we "punched above our weight". His revolving door strategy was that of a man who couldnt make his mind up and this, combined with an obsession to upset people eventually led to his downfall. He spent millions upon millions upon millions and sent us into a decline that was unstoppable. He was finished as a force in English football, and him and anyone who knew anything about the game knew it to be "FACT". Those who are still bitter about the manner in which he went, or even that he went at all should, by now, have got over it. But they use him when they want as a tool to undermine Hodson, all the while saying "its got nothing to do with Rafa, its woys team"

Players:
I will hold my hand up and admit I was wrong. I honestly thought that the squad Benitez had put together last season was strong enough to challenge for a top 4 place. I said that it was his incompetence that stopped these players from reaching their potential and that with him gone we would see how good they really were. How wrong I was. We can now clearly see that many of the players he left us with are a bunch of rag tag, ne'er do wells who look like they havent got the balls for a fight. I cant be ar'sed going through all of them but Johnson, Skrtel, Ngog and Babel should never be wearing a red shirt. As for Poulson and Konchesky, they need to improve or fu'ck off. As for Gerrard, Torres and Carragher, they are the senior members and should act accordingly instead of sulking, moaning and talking bollox. The whole team needs a rocket up the ar'se and those who dont respond, whoever they are should be shipped out in January.

Relegation:
"Its embarrasing that we are in the relgation zone". Yes it is. But its not the end of the world. 7, yes 7 games in and we are down the bottom of the league. Do we deserve to be there? Yes we do because of the way weve been playing. BUT. Add two wins and we are up to 10th. Three wins and we are up to 4th. Such is the nature of the table in this, or any season. As Ive said before, put our glorious history aside for one minute and take into account the way the clubs been run for the last few years. Is it any wonder were where we are? Because the bitters are above us (on goal difference) some are crying that the worlds gone mad and Hodgson should be sacked immediately. We have had a bad start. Absolutely. But getting rid of he manager will not solve anything. I am gutted about the situation were in but now is not the time to act like ignorant kno'bs calling for the managers head

Support:
I understand peoples fears and frustrations and I am not convinced that Hodgson is the man to turn things round. However, as a Reds fan, I totally deplore and condemn the behaviour of some of the so called "fans" who post on here. I dont give a sh'it if you thought the sun shone out of Rafas ar'se and cried when he went. That is no excuse to launch such disrespectful, personal attacks on our current manager. He is not a Fu*king magician and the sh'it he has inherited is far beyond most peoples imagination. Those who mock and undermine him are not true LFC supporters and those who boo at matches need chinning and kicking out of Anfield. Any of the pr'icks who have called him names and behaved so badly should not sing "Youll never walk alone" at matches because they are Fu*king phoney tw@ts if they do.

What we need to do to improve?
1) Lose a game with a big margin or to a much lesser team.
This will spur players to do some soul searching. The shock will galvanise the players if Gerrard plays a leading role.
Get everyone (players) to sit down and talk to each other. Be honest and tell how they like the team to play and how they like to play it.
Everyone then need to work together and explain why things can and cannot work. Knowing how each players think and operate helps to improve team work and over play.
Managers alone cannot think for everyone.

2) Learn from Spain (the world champion).
Keep the ball on the feet even under pressure. Team must learn to keep the ball when under pressure. Do not just pass it away unless necessary.
Too often the ball is passed to someone as quickly as possible without thought just to get opponents off the back. Not the way to play.
We need to draw defenders out and also to create chances. Not just pass around to wait for chances.

3) Attack with support.
Options options options. When attacking options is key. Form triangles or groups when going forward that confuses the defenders (see how Man Utd play 5 years ago).
Don't form straight lines in the midfield. That doesn't serve any purpose. When going forward in a line parallel to the halfway line is simply stupid. We can only pass square balls.
I just don't understand why we do this straight line thing. Not like they are last defensive line. When attacking support your strikers.

4) Aerial threat.
Aerial threats and decent crosses come hand in hand. We can get enough goal if we don't have either.
Crosses so far is below par. Either over shoot or too low. Do they actually practice?

5) Make attacking runs...
Don't stand still and wait for the ball to come to you. Pass to empty spaces in front of teammates so they can create chances.
Momentum is important...

6) Must learn some trickery.
Instead of feeling agrieved by refrees bad decisions, make those decisions turn in your favour.
It is no coincidence that some team seems to get most of the call while we almost always at the receiving end.
The art of being fouled and getting freekicks must be learnt quick!
No need to cheat just remember to get what you deserved.. a free kick.

Just because people critisize the manager on a forum it doesnt mean they dont put their full support behind the team and manager when the first whistle goes . This forum is here for people to air their views , fustrations , praises and feelings . No one will ever know how the previous manager would of done this season - its just pure specualtion . I agree that he should not be insulted , no person involved at Liverpool should ever be insulted including players but of course excluding our owners . The only thing we can judge on currently is what we see on the pitch and the results , currently they are disgraceful and shocking , its our worst start for nearly 60 years , we are in the bottom three for the first time in 20 plus years . The manager is currently doing everything wrong - tactics are wrong, set up , formation , the players picked , what he is saying in the media - he wont get sacked and he shouldnt get sacked . Liverpool dont sack managers and certainly not in October .He will be here until the end of the season but he has to improve on every aspect with the way he is currently managing the club . That doesnt mean he is immune and people should be entitled to critisize the manager if they believe there is something wrong and they should be able to do that freely without being attacked or insulted or put into one of these PATHETIC groups certain people keep mentioning . We are all Liverpool fans and we all want what is best for the club and peoples opinions will vary but dont insult , dont try and rewrite history and respect peoples views.

To those who wanted to scream and kick in the forum cursing and swearing at Liverpool's manager.. No one is really stopping you.
You are not denied your freedom of speech. Just that the timing is not yet right to make such a call.
Some perspective is needed, and the understanding that such action at such early stage of the season is rather counter productive.

It's like a small fire broke out in a cinema and everyone panicked. Screaming and hysterical they all rush towards the exits.
The shoving and pushing, the cursing the swearing, selfishness and ugliness causes a stampede.
The fire grew and killed everyone inside. If only they did not panicked and leave orderly..
But advice most needed often go unheeded..

I never thought id see the day Liverpool were in the relegation zone, I honestly didnt. We have had out worst start to a season in donkeys years but I think we should stick with Hodgson and heres why -

We are in a mess as a club, in limbo not knowing were we are going next until at least October 15th and god knows how long after that. If things stay the same we can right off next season. And the season after that. And the season after that. It could get a lot worse yet before it gets better and we as fans have to concentrate on gets the two Americans out of the club rather then worry about matters on the field. This should be our only concern, because believe me it doesn't make a different if we have Mourinihio as manager with Cappelo as his assistant - we are still fuucked.

Roy can still get this together and keep us above the water. He has had a horrible start but surely the players must take some of the blame. The buck stops with the manager but some of the performances from our squad this season have been embarrassing. Check out Southcoastshanklys average players ratings to see what im talking about.

We need to come together as fans and focus on removing Hicks, anything that happens on the pitch is a bonus. At the moment we have people giving out about the following

Hicks
Gillet
Purslow
Broughton
Roy
Rafa
Gerrard
Carragher
Every bank in the world

This is a Liverpool forum and we are all Liverpool fans but today there are two different groups of Liverpool fans who fight among each other like Liverpool and United fans use to.

How are we suppose to unite to get Hicks out if we cant even unite with each other......

You know what though if we get hammered by Everton in the next game and carry on winless for the following say 6 games, I don't want to hear any of the ones defending Roy relentlessly now to turn around and say sack him.

Give him time  give him time

Give him time to get us relegated

Igor Zidane wrote:My last word on the Roy debate . I didn't want roy as our manager from the start ,but i promised to support him . I never expected anything different than what we've got now . I hoped we'd do well but that's all it was ,hope . Now, can i just get this in first before i upset my fellow rafa supporters . RAFA BENITEZ did not leave this club in a mess . The mess started from 2007 when the yanks come in and got staedily worse . Rafa was fighting the owners the press and trying to compete on limted funds . He over achieved and he got sacked for having ONE i say again ONE poor season .

Now to those asking for our current manager to be sacked ROY . Don't be giving it the "well you wanted rafa sacked last season " You are not them , you have shown your class and dignity in the past by supporting your manager . Bite yer feckin lips and do it again . LFC the club is lost to us for now , but we the fans still have it in our hearts and our heads . Don't sink to the level of the sky sports watching numpties who were screaming for rafa's head last season . You are better than that ,so start showing it . Roy is our manager and we need and have to defend him from the owners and the press as much as rafa , because wether you like it or not Roy is a victim just as much as rafa was .

So feckin what if we are sh!te this season ,we were sh!te last season and i reckon we still would have been sh!te this season under rafa . I said all this last season in the takeover thread when people were blaming rafa instead of the owners . I said whomever the manager was was going to suffer if we kept these owners and we need to stick by him . It still stands and yes i'll say it again , he wasn't my first choice . He wasn't my any choice if i'm honest , but he's our manager and we are still LFC supporters and we need to start showing it .

I don't want kenny anywhere near this job if this is the way it's going to be from now on , because i'm telling you if we didn't learn from last season why rafa was sacked we will never learn . What was it broughton said , "it was obvious the media had no confidence in Benitez " The media ffs , are we now listening to what the media tell us to do , are they and the skysportsnews watchers who claim to be LFC fans going to dictate to us who should be our manager .

If LFC fans want the manager out they'll let the board know by not turning up at games .That's the way it's always been ,like under sousness and under houllier . Not by making tw@ts of ourselves by screaming our past mangers names or for calling for roy to get sacked at the match .

Feckin sort youselves out  Your better than this and you know it !

Its a really top post mate and to be fair you have said what you are still saying now for a long long time.

Were just all passionate about whats going on that's it. Your bound to get splits in opinions it's only human nature.

Some cracking posts the last couple of pages. After cooling down myself after the blackpool game I have realised, we need this. This whole argument, disagreeing thing going on. Yes it may be tedious reading, and petty, but we need it to vent our anger. I agree with a majority of what Thommo's Perm said, especially about the players. They are a disgrace, Alan Hansen hit the nail on the head on MOTD, the club are in trouble at the bottom of the table and to put in that kind of performance, at home, is a disgrace. I give Roy the benefit of the doubt as he is new to the club, however I agree so far his tactics are as baffling as Rafas were. But he does deserve a fair chance. However he does need to swallow his pride (christ where have I heard myself say that before?) and change his methods as they are not working.

No I don't think Dalglish is the answer temporarily or permanently. Roy Evans might be a temporary answer. Beyond that O'Neill, Hiddink, Rijkaard, Deschamps? O'Neill's teams aren't the most entertaining but he's got more charisma than Hodgson and I think he'd get more out of the players motivationally.

Thommosperm you make your case well but when you say that three wins would get us up to fourth that assumes we'd won three games that we'd lost this season or that the sides in 3rd, 4th and 5th wouldn't win their games while we were winning ours.

Essentially the problem with Hodgson is that his managerial career hasn't been spent managing the best sides across Europe or winning titles across Europe. One of the reasons people were more divided about Rafa at various times was because he had won titles in Spain and we wouldn't be calling for the head of a Hiddink or a Rijkaard at the moment because we'd have more confidence that they could turn it round.

as far as Hodgson is concerned, why don't we just drop the "but if you look at his career" angle because he is here, and is our manager. It may make people people feel better about themselves to make it clear that they never wanted him in the first place because of this, that or the other, but surely more important is what he needs to do in order for us to play well?

I personally couldn't give a feck any more what his record was, it's what his record is from now on that concerns me.
