The big positive right now is that Chelsea have major problems with their defensive personnel

Babayaro, was sold in January, Ferreira and Bridge will miss the rest of the season, and Mourinho has found out that Glen Johnson is overrated and unreliable.

That leaves them with 4 centre backs to call upon. Gallas is playing left back for the rest of the season and Terry's place at centre back is secure. So that means that either Huth or Carvalho will have to play at right back if Mourinho decides that he doesn’t trust Glen Johnson.

One more injury to a defender and they would be seriously weak at the back.

I think that is because they are football fans, and would rather see a team win the CL who has fought all the way and earned it, rather than buying it.

Alonso will be match fit by that stage and Cisse will also me back sio i'm confident we could get a 1-1 at their place and beat them at  Anfield...

robben was playing at anfield mate when we gave them a footballing lesson, and i reckon they`ve used up all their lucky deflected goals this season.
just like the old days - let them worry about us.

Things are finally starting to look up, and Rafa is getting rewards for not complaining about the unbelievable injuries this season. Alonso back fit is MAJOR, when he played first half against Chelsea at Anfield we were totally in control until Lampards tackle taking him out the game.
There have been a few other posts that i totally agree with, we cant afford to sit back and try and keep the games tight because they will eventually break us down. If we go at them with a high tempo like the Juve game we will be in with a big chance.

Chelsea had scored plenty goals at home in the last few CL games. We need to be extra careful on that. Somehow I have a feeling that we can surprise Chelski this time...

rubbish, you obviously have the internet to be on this forum.

You can "keep up" with the news with the internet as well as any fan in England can.

GO REDS!!!!

You know what'd be sweet. We cane their a$$es and win the CL and we won't have to worry abt the 4th place. If my understanding serves me right, if we win CL, 4th place on EPL won't matter cos we'd have 4 English teams (us included having won CL this year) in 05/06. If we get 4th place anyways, no worries. But if we don't and the likes of Moyes or FAT SAM B@STARD gets it, hahahhaa... can u imagine their expressions??? cos the CL final will be well after the last games of the EPL's done...

Woollyback wrote:I think there are a number of issues in our favour for the semi final:

1) We will be billed as underdogs, which suits Rafa's tactics & mentality down to a tee. Just like the Juve game, imagine the effect it has on a team of players to be told by everybody "you're underdogs, you won't win, chelsea this, chelsea that"...     You know every one of the lads will be giving 150% for the whole 90 minutes

2) We were absolutely robbed by chelsea at anfield in the league, and chelsea know it. There's a definite sense of injustice there to be put right

3) They have to come to Anfield in the second leg, where the atmosphere will be SENSATIONAL, the likes of which no chelsea fan (or player for that matter) will have ever experienced before. Anfield will be our 12th man that night

4) Hopefully our injury crisis will have eased by then so we'll have Gerrard & Alonso firing on all cylinders, with Cisse also available

I really, genuinely think we can do this   :)  Then if we are in the final ANYTHING can happen, even if it's AC Milan we're playing

Come on you reds!!

i have a good feeling about this tie. i saw enough against bayern in the second leg to convince me that a few cracks are beginning to appear in chelsea's armour.

mourinho would much rather have faced juventus anyday of the week, believe me. i know he respects rafa immensly and i know that he realises that they were damn lucky to beat us on a couple of occasions this season. when they won at anfield they were celebrating as if they'd already won the league.

also, playing away first works to our advantage.

Wouldn't you be gutted if we lost the final and came fifth in the league though?  The standard of the UEFA cup seems to be getting worse, even with the Champions League drop-outs in it.  If that happened Rafa would be the unluckiest manager in the country with all he's had to cope with.

I see what you mean 2520 years, but I wouldn't want us to put a less than 100% effort into the Chelsea tie to improve our league form if you are suggesting that?

We should give our all to win the Champions League, and if we don't and finish 5th then I think our European form this season and the absolute respect Rafa has amonsgt Europe would still allow us to bring the calibre of player we need to Anfield.

Obvisouly after the run we have had thi eyar it would be disappointing bot to be in the competition next season, but I am confiedent we can beat Chelsea, and then it's one game, which we can win, no matter if we play PSV or Milan.

4th is still a strong possibily as well, If Everton lose to Manure we are still only 3pts behind (will be one of the only times I will cheer on Manure ever!), and only 1 point behind Bolton.
