What worries me is things change with or without you and you have to change with them or get left behind, I’d hate for the team to get left behind in this fluid and volatile time, proper decisions need to be made without emotion. From my point of view, I like watching Liverpool play. The more they play, the better. I’d watch them play Accrington Stanley and I’d watch them play Real Madrid, the more they play, the better.

Left behind? Left behind from what? A joke of a league set up by Yank billionaires who openly admit themselves that they only care about profit and the good of the game is of secondary concern to them? You’d put the future of this sport, a sport 150 years in the making in their hands?
These 6 clubs are trying to undermine the English top flight and ergo English football, they are trying to make people like Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley an irrelevance by making the trophies they won and the league they competed in an irrelevance, they have already said they will rest players in prem fixtures to keep them fresh for their stupid super league.
No wonder there is talk about relegating us or throwing us out of the league, the other clubs must be livid.

The Premier League breakaway was all about money.. and Sky made billions from it.

The Champions League was a breakaway from the European Cup and it was all about making more money.

Gary Neville made a good point that there's so many ways to watch matches and yet Sky/BT are taking all the money still.

If Premier League teams each had they're own channel and all money was generated to each channel through a subscription.. then them top 6 teams would make WAY more than anyone else.

It's all about greed and unfortunately the top 6 teams care more about money than the actual game of football.

There is nothing wrong with looking for a better deal Kazza but this is much more than that. It's a power grab as they arent looking for an improvement on what they have, they are looking for it all.

The buzz is playing a season hoping you will win and get to pit yourselves against the other best clubs in europe. Some years you make it and then some you dont but you go again the next season with the same hope.  The attraction of playing Barca or Real is that it only happens every other year.  Who are they to decide Clubs with big history's like Leeds cant play in the top tournament again unless you invite them. As soon as they start owning other clubs it will be those clubs who get invited.

Whatever needs to happen to them needs to be done now. An end to it all, the relentless greed, the control they have and they can tackle the Oil money as well. Reign the lot of them in now before they destroy what has taken generations to build for their own greed.

The thing for me is that this "war on football" or whatever the media calls it, is between rich people, one side trying to gain more money and the other trying not to lose money. The ***** that us mere mortal fans are spouting around (***** in their eyes I mean) like tradition, loyalty etc has absolutely no meaning whatsoever for either side, and I think nobody in football apart from the fans has cared about that in a long long time. The UEFA, Premier League etc. pretend like they care but they're just using the feelings us fans in order to protect their profits.

So ultimately, all parties involved can do one for all I care. All of them are responsible for ruining football with their money, so I couldn't care less who "wins" this. I don't like the NBA like format that the Superleague would have, and that's the only reason I'm agaist it.

I cant believe some of our fans are going along with this
Just listen to klopp before and after the game tonight on what his thoughts are.  Look at the reception our team got because of it all. As if we arent hated enough by other fans as it is.

The resistance to this is massive and it's only a matter of time before they bottle it and pull out but this is an opportunity now to finally reign it all in once and for all. Proper regulation independent of the clubs is what's needed and control taken away from Owners who want to control the entire game.

It's just blatant greed mostly by yank owners who dont want to understand the game  :no  They just want to change it  :nod

That is the problem, they can't be bothered to understand the game here. They just look at sporting business models in their own country and want to try and implement them. Covid 19 was worse enough change for fans but with that there was always light at the end of the tunnel. This SL shyte is a complete disaster, uproar all over the country. Watch the hate the "founding fathers (clubs)" get from the rest. Leeds showed it yesterday and it will just get worse.

I just worry about the team losing ground and this is a pivotal moment for the club, decisions made will have a huge impact.

It seems like just yesterday we were the best team in the world, it felt great and considering where we were, this year is looking like one of our worst years ever. We were flying and then basically since Corona we have had one bit of negative news after another, culminating in this situation we are in now, ie having everyone throwing eggs at us. Fans saying they’ll stop following football, or support another team  (Everton owners are no different by the way) are forgetting that these owners are not the team and I’m not going to change my opinion of the team because of them... this is just another storm and I hope we come out of it without permanent damage. This could in a sense be a more dangerous situation than the Hicks/Gillett situation because at least we had the goodwill of the public then, now we are being attacked by everyone.

Worrying times

Not sure why you honestly care about other people or groups opinions about our club.  :glare:

The main focus right now is how do we wrestle back our club from the parasites that are FSG and boot them the fu.ck over back across the Atlantic. Everything else is irrelevant.

Thought Jurgen and Milly showed their class yesterday coming out and saying they were against this proposal, it’s not easy in any walk of life going against your bosses and the easy way out would have been to answer like Tuchel did earlier in the day but they chose to nail their colours to the mast.
Milly flat out said I hope it doesn’t happen. They are a pair of true footballing men and im proud they are associated with our club, as for the yanks, this brings me no pleasure to say this because I am genuinely grateful for a lot of the things FSG have done, they did save us from administration, they did decide to stay at Anfield a decision which saved the very soul of the club, they did bring the title back to Anfield - and the CL (the 2 biggest prizes in the club game), they brought the 21st century’s version of Bill Shankly to the club, they built a fantastic new main stand and named the old Kemlyn after Kenny....yes I know they have done a lot wrong but they have done a hell of a lot right too, i was even calling for a statue of John Henry to be put up outside Anfield a few months ago but after this i.e  trying to ruin English football all in the name of making a few extra quid for themselves I just don’t see how their position is tenable I really don’t. As I say it brings me no pleasure at all to say that, unlike the other pair of carpetbaggers Hicks and Gillette the likes of Henry and Werner even have a lot of personal charm about them in interviews and the likes and come across well as men but they have really crossed the Rubicon with this one, this one goes beyond sport and ventures into area’s like identity and working class culture etc etc. They are pretty much trying to erect a casino or a brothel on sacred burying grounds here, football is stamped into the very DNA of this country.
What a mess  :no

And who has sufficient funds to buy them out and are you saying they wouldn't be any better? Who would it be, arabs or more yanks or a Chinaman?

I can't think of a European who has bought a big club for 30 years?

I was a big FSG fan, now I'm fully against them but it's difficult to see how anyone else would be any better.

It's a fair point you are making Reg, as I don't have the answers right now because the system itself is almost broken.

You are right, if these horrible sh.it.s sell the club there is a (good) chance more horrible sh.it owners will continue to hold our club hostage in order to make money off us. That's what happens in a broken system where the almighty dollar is prioritised over the health of the sport and the principals of competition.

This is because the FA, UEFA and FIFA are all as corrupt as each other and done f&*k all to stop the likes of PSG, Chelsea and City destroying this sport. You only need to look at the farce around FFP and how limp UEFA were in not sanctioning Abu Dhabi FC

The whole footballing system needs an overhaul and we should be using the proposal of ESL to galvanise support to not just kick Henry and co out of football but also the greedy ***** running the eleven other clubs and changing the system for the better (maybe the German club model, I dunno).

First thing is first though the ESL needs to be destroyed and we all need to send a message loud and clear to FSG on how we feel about it and them.

There’s now talk of the government bringing in legislation to restructure the way football clubs are owned, apparently the Bundesliga model was only introduced relatively recently (late 90’s/early 2000’s) so if it can be done in Germany it can be done here. The surprising thing is that this is a staunchly pro free market conservative government openly talking about doing this, even they realise though the the premier league is a huge asset to this country both economically and culturally and it would be a disaster if it was turned into a second rate by show.
These 6 owners have managed to unite the country in a way many wouldn’t have thought possible, even the Scottish nationalists were saying they are right behind the government on this issue, I’m a republican but fair dues to Prince William for coming out and slagging this off as well, FSG et al have managed to align themselves against the prime minister, every political party in the country, royalty, the premier league, the FA and pretty much the entire British public, they have dragged the name of this club through the mud to the point Jurgen and the players have been getting boo’ed and jeered as they walk through the streets. Their greed has turned us into pantomime villains.

Was flicking through the news channels last night and came across a debate about it on R.T.

Apparently the outrage this is causing was to be expected and the clubs owners arent phased by it at all. They have expected it and wont back down. They are being backed by JP Morgan who has the funding and legal in place to fight this off.

The view from the states seem to be it's fair game as the game was already ruined 30 years ago.  They feel that no one has the right to say what they do with their business and what they are doing is actually preserving the game by preparing it for the future.

It's been 2 days now since this broke and the silence from the owners speaks volumes. All the governing bodies are outraged and threatening all kinds of sanctions and punishments and we are in limbo.

Another thing is that they have shown their true colours in all this. They only care about one thing and that is more money but I hope that our fans now see the level of greed that exists among them and it's all at the expense of the legacy fans who are emotionally invested in their product.

They are leeches who shove every expense they can on to the club. 10 years ago we dreamt about having revenues like we do now but now we are here it's still not enough and never will be because their financial and legal departments take care of that. They have even ringfenced the money from the ESL so that it cant be used on the team. It's only allowed to be used for infrastructure and covid losses

You would be forgiven for thinking that they are doing this for us and the club but they ain't. They are doing this for their own greedy benefit.

I never liked them from day one. They are as bad if not worse than the other two but just have much better PR. They are just as bad as the Glazers and we will never get them out. Fans wont be enough so it's about time the UK Government makes the hard decision and regulates the game now.
