Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Joh Moores owned LFC for the love of the club and the city, FSG are pure businessmen but credit where due, they've done a good job. Bezos and Co and here to radically change our sport, not just our club. John Moore's club, standing in the queue to pay £1.25 to get on the Kop, having the feeling of belonging - that's all gone. How is Bezos going to make money on LFC? by breaking the model and forcing it onto the EPL and UEFA. Infantino has shown how this is going to play out with 'water breaks' for advertising, 27 minute half times and the inevitably European Super Leagues. It's all about money lads and the yanks and going to rip us apart.

I think Bezos et al sense that in the wake of the world cup America is starting to genuinely fall in love with footy, i think US sports fans want to join the rest of the world, they dont want their own sports any more they want to follow a sport which allows them to link hands across the ocean some of them were in tears when the WC ended and all the foreign fans went home,  Now if down the line fooy gets as big as say the NFL, and lets face it footy is a far, far better sport to watch than American footy, you try and watch an entire 3 or 4 hour American Footy game, most of it is roid cheats standing around chatting on the sidelines, if the American market does take off than 8 billion is going to seem like chickenfeed. Its not just the money though its the worldwide prestige of owning us. If we are really succesful under him he's going to become not only admired but incredibly influential in the biggest sport on the planet. Sport unlike politics is something people love.

Fair enough but they’ve been trying to get soccer to be mainstream in the US for decades. It started when Pele went to NY Cosmos in the 70’s in their first attempt at a proper league. Then the WC in ‘94, Beckham to LA and now this WC. It’s a tall order as football flows uninterruptedly and that is hard for the money men to satisfy their greed, hence the water breaks.

In any case, I hope these new developments make us a better club.

That’s my worry, how can you get an acceptable return when the club is worth 8 billion. On the plus side, we will be able to buy Liverpool kit on Amazon now   :glare:
