Aurellio is useless. He tries 100 freek kicks a season and one out a 100 comes close to even beating the keeper. As for crossing I can recall two decent balls since he arrived, both against Arsenal from last season at Anfield. He's not up to it.

Why does everyone condemn Gerrard for wanting to play in his best position, yet Carra was clearly very upset at having to play full back "for the good of the team", yet no one seems to want to mention that?

Because Carragher played there and put in a good performance.

Thats about the same ratio as Cristiano Ronaldo! only he scored 1 and now hes the best in the world apparantly

And his crossing is fantastic,  he could do with a few of our strikers attacking the ball in the box from time to time and you'd see that - thats not a que to have another go at Kuyt by the way

What people seem to forget with Gerrard, is he was played out of his best position for an entire year under Benitez. Carra has been asked to play out of his best position a maxium of 5 times under Benitez, while Gerrard was played right wing, left wing and even up front at times for an entire year without complaining.

I think him telling Benitez that he was going to play one game, one poxy game, in the centre of the park, hardly calls for the some of the stick he's been getting.

Im just comparing their free kick taking, Ronaldos is so overrated it shocking, Aurelio doesnt get to take many but hes hit the woodwork a couple of times. im not comparing them as players, Ronaldo on current form is probably the best in the world, but hes still a poncy, arrogant, spotty faced manc tw@t, and Aurelio is clearly more man than him, has a bigger c0ck and could easily beat him in a fight. 

FWIW Gerrards scored 3 freekicks this season, Ronaldos got 1

They're payed to play. They do play. Benitez is paid to manage, not tell the owners how to run the show. So does that call for Benitez to be sacked? Becuase I don't personally want Benitez to be sacked becaise of what's happened between the owners and Benitez. I want him sacked because of our dreadful form on the pitch. So what about the players telling him they won't play in acertain position . Do you think that's letting Benitez do his job? I'll give you a little scenario -

Paisley " Listen tommy lad , your playing right back today cos phil neals got a bit of a knock ".

Tommy Smith " Feck off bob lad ,centre halfs me best position and i'm staying there "

Bob " Tommy ,your in the reserves until you sort yourself out ,shut the door on yer way out."

I agree Igor, they should play wherever the manager says. It just seems unfair to me that Gerrard has been given "stick" about "mr big man", "mr meee", because he obviously didn't like being played out of position for almost a season, yet Carra does it and gets virtually nothing said about it , cos Carra is "mr Liverpool" while Gerrard is mr England".

Carra has had probably his worse season under Benitez this season , hardly anythings been said, Gerrard plays bad for a couple of games and we are back to "you can tell from his body language that he doesn't really give a sh!t."

A lot of the time people see what they want or expect to see.

I'm sorry guys I just don't agree that Benitez has spent badly, we have plenty top quality players at the club now and only one over 11 mill look at this list

Agger - Fantastic, wouldn't trade him for anyone
Arbeloa - So cheap and a really solid versatile player who in time could develop attacking wise, still young
Skyrtel - we'll see but i was impressed last game
Aurelio - free and a stop gap until someone else comes along
alonso - I'm tired of him but he has superb quality
momo - great potential injury and lack of first team games stunted his growth, still profited though
masch - a monster
benayoun - 11 goals is it? 3 or so mill? a bit unsure but definitely a bargain
Luis Garcia - cheap again and loads of important goals, also make weight for torres
Crouch - top international
Torres - give rafa the money and he delivers
Babbel - unreal potential could be awesome
Lucas - Same as Babbel

Now I bet they are a load more too..

Some people are popping out with players rafa could have got, and some of them are in completely different time zones and positons, give over!

Rafa doesn't buy quantity and what you'll start seeing now is that when rafa starts bringing in new players to our young squad, he will start replacing old players...

And please stop banging on about the one in a million jewels, pennant had the season bentley is currently having the year before we signed him, people like pederson would be exposed as average to poor in a liverpool jersey...

People will never give rafa the credit for his bargains like arbelo and agger and the likes because people expect liverpool to have players of this quality anyway, the truth is they normally come at well over their price, if the two of those were playing in mark hughes side we wouldn't stop hearing about "mark Hughes doing it again!" Please try and read a bit deeper in, we have lots of great players the truth is we are going places, we're just having a blip.. It happens to even the best.

Starters, how can you class Aurellio as a good buy? Skrtel, Babel and Lucas have yet to proven to be great buys, but I do like the look of Babel and Lucas.

But on the other hand, we can rattle off the amount of bad signings if we wanted. Josemi, Nunez, Morientes, Pelligrino, Intandje, Kuyt, Voronin, Sissoko IMO, Aurellio IMO, Kromkamp, Zenden, Barragan, Fowler (even though past it when we brought him back) as well as many others who haven't quite performed up to standards.

You have mentioned a lot of players in the rubbish category there and I can't disagree with some, but 6 of those were free! Fair enough though most were flops and Morientes who flopped tremendously, prices weren't high though and some fulfilled roles so I wouldn't get that hung up about them...

Also
-Nunez (who always gets mentioned) was merely a make weight the tiniest bit rafa could salvage from the owen deal
-Intandje has actually looked really good in the carling and fa cup so don't dump him there
-Kromkamp looked decent and was swiftly passed on for no loss
-Barragan was only a youth player
-Pelligrino decent cover for the second half of the season

The rest I can't really say anything good about (bar sissoko, i really liked him), even though they are so cheap except Kuyt who looks terrible at the moment, I hope he improves with confidence.

Also none of these gaffs compare to the likes of veron, forlan, biscan, diao, diouf who were in the alex and gerrard houllier school of rotten signings at the time, all costing big money

Yes he hasnt been able to spend £15 mil on Malouda.  However the point I'm trying to make is with the money his had his bought to many poor players.  U can find good players with the money his had.  Wenger seems to do it just fine.  Rafa just aint the best judge of players.

I agree with you on this but there are very few known managers in the world who could do what Wenger does.  Sure I'd like to see Rafa go out and buy the next Hleb instead of Pennant, but you have to understand that even the best managers like Fergie need lots of money to buy quality talents nowadays.  When Rafa buys Babel-10.5,Lucas-8, Fergie buys Nani-14,Anderson-18.  How do you expect us to overtake Man U, when it's clear that they have a much bigger budget than us?

Man Utd have had a bigger budget than us for years.  Before Nani and Anderson they were paying £30 mil for Rooney and Rio Ferdinand.  Man Utd will always have a bigger budget than us but the team who spends the most doesnt always win. We dont need to be able to match Man Utd pound for pound to beat them.  Martin Jol at Spurs spent more money than anyone other than Mourinho and still couldnt break the top 4.  Compare his spending to his rival Wenger at Arsenal and u see that its not just about spending.  Any Inter Milan fan can vouch that for years they spent millions and millions and won nothing.  Its not simply about money.  Like I have said before even if Rafa had more money I'm still not convinced he would still find the right players.  If Rafa had the money I doubt he would ever dare to buy an Anderson or Nani for the money Man Utd spent.  Those sort of players are to risky for Rafa.

So puroresu who do you think can replace Rafa and overtake Man U and Chelsea with our budget?

Its not about taking over Man Utd and Chelsea straight away.  Rafa has had 4 years and doesnt seem to be getting closer.  I believe with the same amount of funds Mourinho would have us closer.  Its not even just about the players.  You cant just have good players, u need to be able to motivate those players to go out and perform week in week out over 38 games.  I aint certain Rafa has the tools to get the best out of his players week in week out.  Jose can do that.

Dalglish: Time for everyone to get behind Rafa Benitez

KENNY DALGLISH has used winning a special award to back current Liverpool manager Raffa Benitez

The former manager and player was this year’s winner of the Bill Shankly Memorial award at the Liverpool Daily Post's sister paper, The Liverpool Echo's sports awards.

The Liverpool legend used his acceptance speech to back current Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

Accepting the award from Benitez and former team-mate Ian Rush, Dalglish told the audience at the ECHO Arena that the time has come for everyone at Anfield to get behind the Spaniard.

He said: “The troubles at the club that have been well documented in the media have certainly not done the manager of the players any favours.

“It is time for everyone to get right behind the manager because there is only one person who should be in charge at the football club and that is the manager.”

Dalglish also paid a warm tribute to Shankly, whom tried to sign him for Liverpool when he was just 15 years old.

“I came down from Glasgow and played in a practice game against Southport when I was 15. Shanks wanted to sign me then but I was really shy at that stage and it didn’t happen.

“But although I was never fortunate enough to play under the great man I know full well that he laid the principles down for all of us who have been fortunate enough to play for this great club to follow.

“Without the qualities he brought to the club I don’t think the club would be what it is today.

“And make no mistake about it, Liverpool is a very special club and I still have a very strong attachment to it,

“I regard Merseyside as my home and all my kids grew up here and I regard myself as having been very privileged to have played a small part in the history of this great club.

“I was very fortunate to play under some great managers and in teams with some great players so when I look back I have to be very grateful for everything I achieved as a player.

“When I first signed in 1977 John Toshack gave me two bits of advice – don’t lose your accent and don’t over-eat, So at least I got one right!”
