about Micheal Owen : According to an interview with him though his current lack of pace is due to weakened muscles from his numerous injuries, if he can remain injury free for a while he can build up the "explosive" muscles thus regaining his once legendary speed,

no but seriously though.. i hope your right.. would love to see owen running at full speed again!  especially with cisse next to him.. we will have some serious speed up front.

hopefully he won't bust a gut and wreak his hamstrings again though.. fingers crossed.

where has it gone? Love to see it back
He comes from Spain and he doesn't speak good English,
But we don't care cos he'll turn us into winners,
The European Cup will be ours before he's finished,
Raaaaafaa Benitez!

Hopefullt it comes back, the pace of Henry and Reyes caused all sorts of probls for Man u's defence yesterday, Cisse and Owen could rip em apart.

Apart from that, Owen needs to regain the confidence which made him a predator of the ball with his speed. I am pretty sure he is in the frontline for the start of the season. And he must tell himself that he needs to score a lot more than last season. Cisse will be alongside to compete for the total goals award.

Don't worry, if Owen falls, we still have Baros. But of course, love to see Owen back to his old self.:D

Owen hasn't had pace?

What kind of stupid comment is that? He's still lightening quick. Just because he's lost a yard doesn't mean he's slow. He's still one of the quickest players in the league.

Man, where did you get these sub-10 seconds 100m timing from? Do you realise that a sub-10 seconds means that Henry and Owen are as fast as the specialist and mostly pro runners in the world? I think that the world record is some 9.79 seconds.

If they are able to do sub 10 seconds, they are better off becoming pro sprinters because the sponsorships, prize money and fame would allow them to enjoy wealth without having to endure crunching tackles, elbows and kicks that hurt! You must be smoking some weed or have a clouded head or something.

Get real man (or woman), as much as I am a fan of Owen, I don't really believe that he is as quick as the athletes who specialise in 100m or 200m sprints. For a footballer, being able to do sub 12 seconds is considered electric and at his peak, Owen should be thereabouts.

Anyway, a striker does not have to sprint all the way to 100m, the crucial bit is an explosive pace at between 20m to 40m. You don't see a sprint from well inside his own half and end up 100m at the other end...anyway, I think 100m is about the length of a football pitch!

Owen still has pace but it is considerably slower than before and with his size disadvantage, the defenders can bump him out of the way far too easily before he has a chance to ourtun them.
