Liverpool clinch loan deal for Albacete dazzler Gonzalez

Liverpool have captured Albacete winger Mark Gonzalez on a season-long loan.
But Gonzalez, 20, will not be able to play until October after damaging cruciate ligaments in May.

Yet the young winger is rated such a hot prospect in Spain that Reds boss Rafa Benitez has still snapped him up with a view to a permanent £4.9million move when he proves his fitness.

Another youngster, to go with Hobbs, Roque and Bargerra. When he's healthy, he'll be a big boost on the wing. I could see him starting for good next season. Thoughts?

I believe I've read he plays on the left wing, but I could be mistaken.

It seemd that the official site has a different view on the player, and thinks he is a little older than your report......

Name: Mark Gonzalez
Age: 24
Club: Albacete
Position: Winger
Nationality: Chilean

South American Gonzalez is an inspirational young player with
lightening pace who can play on either flank or as a forward. A Chilean international, he currently plays for Albacete in La Liga.

Although here it says he is 20 and will be celebrating his 21st very soon!
I have heard that he is twenty from other sources before.

Sounds like a promising player, lets hope the injury is not too bad and he impresses on his year loan!

The Times- Liverpool hope González will spark influx

LIVERPOOL hope to confirm the first in a flurry of summer signings today after agreeing a deal to take Mark González, the highly-rated young Albacete winger, on a season-long loan with a view to a £4.7 million move if he proves his fitness.
The 20-year-old was on course to move to Anfield on a permanent basis until he damaged knee ligaments playing against Levante on May 8, but, after learning that the Chilean should be ready for first-team action by the end of October, Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, urged his board to proceed with a loan deal.

The signing promises to be the first of several before next Wednesday’s registration deadline for the Champions League first qualifying round tie against Total Network Solutions, the Welsh champions. José Manuel Reina, the goalkeeper, could complete his £6 million move from Villarreal today while Lincoln City confirmed last night that Jack Hobbs, their promising 16-year-old defender, is heading to Anfield on trial with a view to a permanent deal.

Hobbs had been a target for Arsenal, but negotiations broke down when the London club allegedly refused to include a sell-on clause in the compensation package.

hopefully he will prove his fitness over the year, if he is injured and rafa is still signing him, he obviously rates him highly so he should be a good player for us once his fit.

The rules I think are slightly different for players who do not play in their Coutries first team/squad, but I am not 100% on that.

I believe he has a Spanish passport.
