Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Ok, for example a certain united player was bought for 12.5 million pounds when he was 19yrs in 2003, most thought a complete waste of money at the time, in his first two seasons couldn't stay on his feet, United supporters were even agreed that he was a light weight, useless, too many step-overs not enough end product, then he started to mature developed the footballing brain and confidence he required to make the most of his potential, this summer Real Madrid reportedly offered 65 million for him, the only difference in his circumstances was that United were able to carry him until he did develop.

I'm not suggesting that Lucas has that amount of talent but he has his far share, we as armchair supporters don't see what goes on in training, I know for a fact I haven't seen any of Lucas's games from Brazil were he was highly thought of and where he was settled and playing in a team without too much pressure.

There he was able to play naturally and with confidence, at the moment for us he is playing within himself because of the mistakes he has made due to his age.

Lets give him a 18 months at least as I said in my first post he has only been at the club for 18 months and thats no where near enough time for him to have got his head sorted out.

The lad could have already been a folk hero for us, if the slimey neville hadn't cleared his goal bound effort off the line with his hand, in a recent derby. Think the confidence boost that would have given the lad, I think thats all his needs, he needs to prove to himself and to boo boys that he deserves to play at this level and then his Anfield career will take of

Alot of great posts in a constructive way here.  With the injury to Gerrard, when Lucas comes back from his suspension, I'd like to see him given a shot at concentrating on linking with Torres and the wingers.  For now I would tell him to leave the defensive final third to Mash, Alonso and the CB's and FB's.   One major key to developing a player's confidence and enhancing their talents is to put them into places where they can succeed.  As this develops, so do their responsibilities.

Oh and get a :censored: haircut you look like one of Cinderella's step sisters.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

In the last two games has he made mistakes, certainly but once Gerrard went of last night he seemed to be one of the only players willing to take up any slack, his passing was sharp and crisp and his movement off the ball was always trying to make space for the man in posession.

The penalty at Wigan was another bad mistake but yet again he was performing well in that game.

As for saying he hasn't shown any signs of being a good player I think your wrong I have seen enough in the Arsenal game last season and the Newcastle game this year to suggest that if he can settle into the english game and its physicality (which he showed signs of last night, couple of very nasty tackles he was on the receiving end of he just brushed them of) he will prove to be a shrewd buy at 5 million.

I could understanding calling him thick if he was 25yrs but he isn't, football is all about developing the mental side of the game and that takes years to come to terms with.

Again I'll go back to Gerrard, now I'm in no way comparing Lucas with Gerrard but I think i'm right in thinking that Gerrard got sent of in a derby for one of the worst tackles i've seen in the modern game when he was only breaking into the team, in fact didn't he get sent of last year at Anfield or maybe the year before in a derby for a pretty naive tackle.

It happens, we plee for our foreign imports to show some passion when it comes to the derby but when one does he is called thick, give the kid a chance to grow up and become the decent footballer he could be. Its unfortunate that we aren't in the position of United or Arsenal were we can carry young players in our first team but thats not the boys fault

How long shall we give him?

well seeing as he is only 21 then its fair to say you still got to give him a bit more time

He had a good games against Wigan and Everton but shitted all over them with his horrible fouls.  Simple as that, I think he will come good in time he's already a decent prospect atm I think.  Hopefully he can still improve though because even at his very best he isn't -that- good.

His best performance of the season have been against Newcastle and PSV. And no disrespect to them but their level of :censored:.ness made him look good. You only had to look at the number of chances we had on goal at Newcastle to see even he was going to have a good game. I think most people saw him in that game and thought 'hey maybe he is good after all' but the truth is he is poor, :censored: poor.

Hey, i think this players have to grow, and the only person who knows how he plays Is benitez, so we just can imagine how he is.

In the other hand I've got 2 tickets for Real Madrid-Liverpool, a great chance to see this lucas, so privately i'll talk with whoever is interested. They are just 10 meters away from other Liverpool fans, i think they are the VIP ones because they sit near the field.
The tickets are in lateral, and realle really close to the field. I've got a season ticket so I'd like responsable people cause the tickets have to be handed back to me. Not cheap, sorry, but they are great tickets.
