LUCAS LEIVA - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We need better players and the likes of Lucas, Maxi, Babel, Poulsen, Skrtel, Aurelio, Spearing, Konchesky and Jovanovic need to be shown the door.

This is true however we cant get rid of half our team all in one foul swoop, it will take time to phase them out and find suitable replacements.  I doubt very much that our new owners will go out and buy new players to replace all the above during the summer.  I would love if they did but its unlikely.

So until we do fill our ranks with world class players should we not get behind the players we currently have and encourage them at every oppertunity so they give everything they have while they are playing for us on the pitch?

However, as someone has already stated, he's an average player who sometimes plays well, and sometimes doesn't. But, ask youtself this, would any of the top 4 teams in this league have him in their side? Would any of the top 6 give him 40+ starts a season? The answer is no...he would struggle to make the bench in most cases.

If we want to improve our team, and our chances of one day challenging for the league, we need to stop fooling ourselves that players like Lucas are good enough.

No. But that's mainly because they are from England, Nigeria and Cameron.

Absolute common sense.. debate over.

He isn't shyte mate, he was a very good defensive midfielder on his day, unfortunately he is turning out to be another Morientes.

I've seen a lot of Poulsen before he joined us, and you can ask any Schalke or Sevilla fan or even La Liga fans about him and they will tell you he was a top player in his prime. People say he is bad because they haven't seen him play before he joined us.

Thanks for putting me straight, C H Luke.  I stand by the rest of my post.  He's a good lad, doing his best for us.  He's no Socrates, Cerezo, Falcao, Clodoaldo or whoever but he's ours and deserves a bit of respect.

So because i can't spell Lucas can play? OK...Your logic is flawless. BTW Mussi from Barcelona is a good player?

Anyway ,no need to go far to understand the caliber of player we need in CM ,Just compare him to Alonso and Masch..Both had their weaknesses but they offered some strong ability and adventage. Lucas offers none. U wanna keep him? Fine ,as a Squad player only.

i was just making a point, its hard to understand how you could spell one of our players names wrong that's all.
I actually agree with your point regarding the difference in ability with Lucas and Alonso and Mascherano but think at this moment in time there are other areas of the team that are in more need of improving.

Hmmm...still a wretched player for me. His going from Shite to slightly less shite ain't going to have me waving the flag in his direction.

The bottom line is that he's just not good enough for the important position he's been tasked to occupy.

And what is that position in your view exactly?

Honestly, it appears some cannot/will not recognise his role in the team because he rarely scores or plays the killer final ball. We've got other players in the side to do that.

It actually makes me wonder what this lad needs to do to get people off his back.

how about offer some sort of goal threat or make an assist? theres a lot more to playing central midfield that shielding the back four. Lucas has shown time after time after time after time after time that he is an average footballer and he will never be anything more than that.
