Loan watch - Season long updates

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think I said most of this already but this is what .tv had to say about our loaned out players:
Scott Carson

Scott had an impressive debut for Aston Villa during Saturday's goalless draw at Newcastle United and made several good saves.

Godwin Antwi

The Ghanaian centre half is currently out on a season long loan at League One side Hartlepool United. Godwin scored for Hartlepool on Saturday with a header in the 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers. He has played three games so far for Danny Wilson's side.

Danny Guthrie

Danny is currently with Sammy Lee's Bolton Wanderers but has yet to make a senior appearance for the struggling side.

Adam Hammill

Adam came on as a 71st minute substitute for Southampton in their 2-1 defeat by Norwich City at the weekend. The winger has made two substitute appearances for George Burley's side so far, and is pushing hard for a place in the starting line-up when the Saints host Stoke City on Saturday.

Paul Anderson

The winger marked his first start for Swansea City with a fantastic goal during the midweek 2-0 win over Walsall in the Carling Cup. He made his Swans debut as a substitute during the 2-1 opening day defeat by Oldham, but missed Saturday's goalless draw with Nottingham Forest with a hamstring strain.

Lee Peltier

Lee played the full 90 minutes for Yeovil Town on Saturday in their 1-0 win over Port Vale in League One. Peltier has played in all of Yeovil's three matches so far in central midfield.

James Smith

The Liverpool born defender is currently on loan at League Two side Stockport County. He played the full 90 minutes in County's 1-1 draw at Chesterfield on Saturday. Smith has played in all of Stockport's three games so far.

And our youth team took a BEATING 5-0 against Villa.  Really surprised because it seemed like we were playing well in pre-season:
There was disappointment for Liverpool Under-18s when they lost their opening game of the Academy season after a 5-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
Liverpool played well in the first half and after a succession of missed chances the young Reds found themselves 1-0 down at half time, but unfortunately a second half defensive collapse saw Villa take full advantage.

Reds Under-18 manager Hughie McAuley said: "It is disappointing for everybody concerned to lose a match 5-0 and it's a kick up the backside for the players.

"The players are developing but they know the standard that is required here. We will work hard this week in training before our next game against Sunderland at the Academy on Saturday.

"We were in the game in the first half but we didn't take our opportunities. Villa scored two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half and things then just went from bad to worse for us."

Antwi injury blow for Hartlepool
Hartlepool's on-loan Liverpool defender Godwin Antwi is set for a spell out of action with a hamstring injury.
Antwi, who is on a season-long loan from Anfield, was injured after scoring Hartlepool?s opening goal in their 2-1 win over on Doncaster on Saturday.

"With a hamstring injury you're usually looking at three to four weeks," boss Danny Wilson told his club's website.

"We will see how it progresses and we are hoping it will be sooner. It's a blow but we have a great squad."

Mihaylov joins FC Twente on loan - BBC SPORT

Liverpool's Bulgarian goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov has joined Dutch club FC Twente on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old former Levski Sofia keeper only joined the Reds on a five-year deal in June but does not have a work permit to play in England.

He will compete with Sander Boschker and Cees Paauwe in the Twente squad.

Mihaylov, a Bulgarian Under-21 international, was in Levski's squads for their Champions League group games last season.

He is the son of Bulgarian goalkeeping legend Borislav Mihaylov - who is now president of the Bulgarian Football Union.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has heaped praise on Scott Carson following his performance against Newcastle on Saturday.
Carson kept a clean sheet in his first game since heading to the Midlands on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

During the first half he impressed with a superb reflex save to deny David Rozehnal from close range.

O'Neill said: "I was delighted with Scott because it's always good to come to a new club and record a clean sheet in your first game.

"I think he was obviously nervous before the game and that was understandable because he'll want to do well for Villa.

"Last season he was voted Charlton's Player of the Season but this is a new campaign now and he's eager to do even better this term.

"He came in on the back of Stuart Taylor playing very well the week before against Liverpool and that's never easy. It was a difficult decision for me to make but Scott came in and I thought he played very well in the game."

fecking great! hopefully o"neil will sign carson then,
cause i don"t want to see him in goal for us
i just wish they would lift the ban on loan
players not being able to play against us cause
carson wouldn"t need to pretend against us,
he"s so :censored: he would let them in anyway.

and before anyone jumps to his defence -ask
yourself this - if Raffa rated him why loan him
out 2 seasons on the trot enough said.

Because he wants to play and we have a top goalkeeper in Reina, that's why.

I disagree with all the negative rubbish being said about Carson, he did great for a team destined for the championship as soon as Curbishley left the season before, he's 21 ffs and already in the England squad, he's a great shot stopper and will only fulfill his potential by plaing first team football in the best league in the world, he's at a big club in Villa and if he has a good season he could be wearing the national jersey next summer if England make it that is with that knobhead in charge.

Shouldn't be too hard to get the shirt with Calamity Robbo 'n' James holding out for it.

The only reason he's been loaned out is because Pepe is solidand prob on par with Cech as the best keeper in the league, I'm sorry but I rate Carson and think we should hold onto him, it was only the other winter he went on loan to Shef Wednesday (They were terrible, and still are) and he played 10 games for them and got MOM pretty much every game, got rave reviews and everything so thats the two teams he's been on loan at and been the best at the club.

Scott Carson only allowed a goal from Clint Dempsey in Villa's 2-1 win over Fulham

Hammill was an unused sub at the weekend in Southampton's 3-2 win over stoke

Danny Guthrie was not in the Bolton squad for their 3-0 win.

Paul Anderson was an 81st minute sub for Swansea, and picked up an yellow in the 90th.

Lee Peltier played 90 minutes in Yeovil town's 2-1 victory over Northampton.  He received a yellow card in the 68th minute and also provided a very dangerous cross on a free-kick that was headed over the bar.

Goodwin Antwi played all 90 minutes to help Hartlepool shut out Port Vale 2-0.

James Smith also played 90 minutes in League two side Stockport's 2-2 draw with Rotherham.

Jimmy Ryan was not in the Shewsbury squad that lost 3-0.

The Bulgarian Keeper was not in the Twente squad either.

Miki Roque's Xerez had their match postponed.

And got Man of the Match by all accounts.

Was listening to the local footy phone in up here last night and a Hartlepool fan phoned up. He was raving about Antwi, saying that he was "playing out of his skin".

Good to hear.

good to hear, maybe if Sami's injury was more serious Rafa would think about recalling him from the loan to see if he can play at the premiership level.

Antwi played 90 minutes in Hartlepool's 2-1 loss in the Carling Cup

Anderson played 120 Minutes in the Swan's 1-0 loss to Reading and was at least twice unlucky to score:
John Halls became the second Reading player booked for holding back Andy Robinson, and Federici then climbed high to gather Paul Anderson's testing shot.

While Reading looked more assured than they had done before the break, Swansea still created the best chances, and Anderson's rasping drive fizzed narrowly wide.

Carson did not play in Villa's 5-0 thrashing of Wrexham
