Liverpool best midfield in prem - When gerrards back

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Wed Oct 27, 2004 5:22 pm

When Stevie returns from injury we are going to have the best midfield in the prem maybe in europe :D .
As Real, Chelsea, Arsenal all the biggest teams wanted Gerrard, and Real and the scum wanted Alonso, Alonso choose Liverpool over Real  .
We have a gem in Garcia and once the transfer window opens and we get an out and out striker, an CB we are going to be one fantastic football team with the best young manager in europe.
Cmon you Reds.

Bit overly optomistic there Lyndsey dear.

Alonso's class. Gerrard's class.

Kewell has class but never shows it, got to start improving and showing what he's got and we need a right winger to have a complete midfield.

unbelievable but very possible to be true cisses
it's now about the matter of management, which we also have it in rafa. maybe sounds too optimistic, but couldn't find any reason to be not

Mm hmm.

Kewell has to start to perform.

Luis Garcia is certainly not a midfield player.

i mean if you refer to only stevie and xabi, they are to be the best mid pairing in at least EPL

Xabi and Gerrard are the best 2 young midfielders in europe now, apart from viera and lampard but we have 2 in one team :)

If kewell to be at his best again, and nunez to be another proven good buying from rafa (which is to me is likely), we defo have the best mids.

Im impressed with Garcia so far especially at Anfield but I worry about the tactics and formation we will end up using when we get Gerrard and Nunez back. The problem is when you play Garcia on the right it stops Josemi bombing on and I think thats an aspect of his play we have only seen glimpses of, if Garcia can add a little mettle to his game perhaps improve his physique it will no longer be a prob. We have the players who have the potential to be the best so it will be v.interesting to watch. The more I think about it I feel perhaps the Baros-Cisse thing may become irrelevent, Rafa may end up playing Garcia off Baros thus playing in a fashion he likes and also takes Cisse out of the firing line whilst he finds his feet.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

And who can blame them?!?!

You guy probably have the best central midfield pairing:

---- Gerrard ---------- Alonso -----

He was fantastic alongside Gerrard vs Monaco...

They'll be a fantastic partnership...

But he's a better passer than Gerrard in my opinion...

He's only been in the Premiership for a short while and already quite scary really.

He's only about 22 or something and will become a world class midfielder.

His hair ain't too bad either... :p

Better than Gerrards in my opinion... :p

Centre mmidfield is strong.

It's the right and left areas where we are weak.
