Rafa's post-match interview

Asked was he worried about the six minutes of stoppage time when Eidur Gudjohnsen almost scored and the complaint from Mourinho when he disputed Garcia's goal, Benitez was quite philosophical.

Benitez said: "Well yes I was worried but I was also worried when Cisse missed two good chances to score. I haven't seen the goal again on television but if the referee didn't play the advantage then it's a penalty and a red card for the goalkeeper."

Mourinho also suggested that Chelsea were by far the better team on the night but Benitez quipped: "We are in the final. They beat us three times by the odd goal this season and we beat Chelsea tonight. I am a very proud manager."

And straight from the horse's mouth:

Jose Mourinho shrugged off the disappointment of his side's semi-final defeat at Anfield to declare: "I hope Liverpool win the final."
The Chelsea boss insists his side didn't deserve to finish the game as losers but he has now wished Rafa Benitez and the Liverpool players all the best in Istanbul.

He said: "From my heart I want Liverpool to win the final. It will be good for the Premiership if they do and I really mean it when I say I hope they win.

"I don't think they were better than us on the night, in fact the best team lost. There is no doubt about that. They got an early goal and then just defended for the rest of the game.

"They defended with committment, energy and enthusiasm and did it very well. Sometimes football can be cruel and I think it was cruel on us tonight."

Mourinho was less than impressed with the linesman's decision to award Luis Garcia's early strike, especially as TV replays have also proved inconclusive.

"He has to be 100 per cent sure," he said. "And even when you see it on the TV you cannot be sure.

"But we all make mistakes. These things happen. I don't think the Anfield crowd interfered with my players at all, but maybe it interfered with other people."

d1ckhead.

No,  of  course not the fiercest and most passionate crowd his players who are more used to playing in front of Suits and corporate crowds are ever likely to witness didn't phase them at all.....

I hate Man Utd, don't get me wrong I really hate them but Chelsea and Mourinho make my blood boil more than they ever did. I hate them with such a passion I cannot tell you. Mourinho is such an total cu.nt! The way he acted in Cardiff with the finger to the lips showed what a terrible winner he is and tonight shows what a pathetic loser he is too....how can he say that his team were best tonight. They were played off the pitch. They had more possession maybe but what did they do with it? We had more shots on goal than his team did. What a wan.ker!!!! Bye bye Jose, you can come watch the final round my house if you like!!!!

yet some more remarkable and disgraceful comments:

"We are disappointed but at the same time I am very proud of my players."
Mourinho also commented that he hoped the decision to allow the goal did not have other motives.
"If the decision was a mistake I can accept it, if it was for other consequences then I won't," he added.

Gotta say i liked mourinho's attitude until this game 2day, wat an arrogant t***, worse loser eva sayin the beta team won, we were the beta team we attacked just as much as they did and defended much better, we had more shots on target than them 4 to 1.
Neva will hav respect for mourinho or his team eva again, glad traore gave gudjohnsen a good boot in the face for the yellow card he cost xabi for his dive. doesnt matter now f*ck mourinho hes the one out of the champiions league, we have a final to look forward to!
but gotta say i dont think the manager and the team shud be getting to cocky and sure they are gonna win this final as this is were we could easily lose concentration and get crushed. We need the same mentality as we had for every other round.

I cant believe some ppl liked his arrogance at the start??? Im not sure if it was because it was a new thing in the prem or that it was funny, but ever since that Barca match, its shown the world that he is a w@nker and deserves to stay in London with BS

it was a bit of both really, he was something different for the premiership and was an interesting character to listen to and it was also funny at times too but he has gone too far with it now.
