i'm genuinely excited by this kid. reminds me a lot of the gerrard as a kid when he first broke through. good drive and good vision.

more importantly he can actally take a corner :D

And me. Himself and spearing make a good CM partnership. Shelvey puts Babel, Jovanovic and Poulsen to shame.

Good game tonight, but a hell lot to learn.

For sure a very good player in the future

I guess I'll watch the match, had no clue this guy would get a start I rate him pretty highly at the moment so hopefully he keeps on progressing.

i've got a mate who's a charlton fan and he tells me that when he was at charlton, he was used more behind the main striker.

personally i don't think that's his position. he's blatantly a box-to-box midfielder and we haven't really had one of those since gerrard in his younger days.

Looks a decent player and built for the EPL. Not frightened to get on the ball and looks to have bags of confidence.

We need more players like Shelvey, whether or not he'll ever make the grade time will tell but he has confidence on the ball and is able to receive passes in between defenders with out trouble at times.  Most of our players can only receive passes when no one is within 10 feet of them.

QFT.

Was a bit hesitant when seeing him receive those passes so close to opposition players, but over the course of the game he definitely impressed with his composure and ability to receive and distribute in those positions.

And for once at LFC in a loong time, a player who looks to be built for the EPL.

Agree with u there Simari, Shelveys build is very important!  Thats one of the main reasons why the likes of Nemeth, Spearing, Darby, Bruna etc wont make it long term with Liverpool!

If Spearing wasnt a scouser and the homegrown rule wasnt in, he would have been turfed out a long time ago due to size!! It was embarassing watching his little legs trying to keep up with one of the Napoli players on one occassion when they broke down the wing!!

Look at Man City - the two Toures, adebayor, de jong, company, barry, richards, Milner! All tough physcial lads who bullied us when they beat us recently!!

Give the lad a you out, what is there to lose?  His enthusiasm will bring more value than some of the more established sulkers. Go for it and watch him respond.
