We do not want a player who's heart is no longer with the club, we can't force Masch to stay. His loss though will be deeply felt in the team.

If he does leave who would you buy?

My pick would be Diarra, rumors are he is not quite happy at Real Madrid maybe we get him at a discount & be able to use the change  to add to a new striker.

Have I missed something or how do all of you suddenly know for a fact that "he wants to leave, and he wants to leave now" ???. I mean I know the stories from the summer but has Masch himself said anything new about his situation recently?

I think the midfield needs a rethink, hopefully we can see what can be made of it between now and the transfer window in advance. If we got a £10m+ offer for Agger I'd take it while he's in the middle or not playing much, while Mascherano is loved by some/many I'd sell him while we can get a good fee for him and utitilise the incoming £££ before interested Eurogiants buy in a cheaper version since their attacking prowess means their DM doesn't need to be that great or costly
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

spot on mate , an that's the real fecking worrying thing about it! i really rate our little chief, but have been concerned about some of his perforfances so far this season. please masha sort your attitude out once an for good! the likes of him i still say will make or break our season!

with a fully focused masha we can turn it around this season cause for me he can change a game, with his cruticial tackles to create chances going foward as well as breaking down the oppo's attacks.

we haven't replaced alonso, deep down you will agree- so the thought of selling masha with or without a replacement worries the feck out of me, cause for me he is that important to LFC!

at this moment in time Raffa wouldn't even be in a half decent place to bid for anyone within masha's ability, it is a fecking horrible thought it really is.

Barca should take their £30m and go and a buy the best CB available, because that's the area of their team that is most in need of strengthening (as if they're in 'need' of strengthening). They've got one of the best midfield combos in world football, with Toure anchoring, Xavi and Iniesta dictating and two or three fairly good youngsters in reserve, which has proven more than enough in recent years.

Igore that isn't the whole link mate, can't view it.

I guess this is it.

Barcelona agree personal terms with Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano

The Sunday Express claims this morning that Liverpool’s defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano has "virtually sealed a £30million move to Barcelona."

John Richardson writes: "Mascherano’s advisers have agreed the player’s personal terms with Barcelona – which will mean a hefty rise to around £100,000 a week – in advance of a fee being agreed between the two clubs."

Richardson adds: "The Argentina international captain is determined to get his way in the coming months – and Liverpool know that. They will, however, continue to play hard ball with Barcelona over the transfer fee. It’s believed they are demanding £36m, although an eventual compromise deal of around £30m – the same fee that took Alonso to Real Madrid – will end the waiting for a frustrated Mascherano."

Mascherano, 25, was long-linked with a move to Barcelona during the summer with various reasons given for his desire to leave Anfield, including that he was looking for pay parity with the biggest stars at Liverpool.

The defensive midfielder is contracted to the Merseyside giants until the end of season 2011/2012. During 2009/2010, Mascherano has played 14 matches in the Champions League and Premier League, he has been booked twice and sent off once.

Is Rafa really going to let him go in Jan? I doubt it. And they need to agree afee with us first. Cheeky :censored: though agreeing terms!!!!! If that is true I am fuming here.

Crikey the future isn't looking Liverpool Red at the moment.

If Mascherano wants out we should let him go, at the moment we look like a 'selling club' which is not good. Our owners had fecking better give Rafa the funds if/when Mascherano leaves for Barca. If not I dread to think what will happen in terms of our success on the pitch. If players like Gerrard, Torres, Reina and Johnson don't see money re-invested into the team who knows what they may do in future with regards to their own positions at the club.

Mascherano and Alonso are big losses but they're not irreplacable if the money is re-invested and re-invested wisely.

Out of interest what is that Toure of Barca like, anyone?
