After that mega signing and bearing in mind Purslow and Rafa doesn't seem to be sweet negotiators, I doubt it.

It's hard to predict what will be the chain reactions of the megabucks that have been placed in the market. In Valencia they're waiting for an enormous offer of Ferguson to buy Villa, Arsenal are reported to be ready to pay 17M to get Huntelaar (I wish we were interested on him but it doesn't seem to be the case), and everybody is expecting what's going to do Mourinho with the cash. A lot of things may happen in this summer, which is going to be long.

I was watching SSN yesterday and they interviewed Lapatora (Barca President) asking him about the match they had just played in and then right out the blue "are you still interested in Javier Mascarano" I was well :censored: off not with Barca but F ing SSN for bringing the F ing story up again.I hate the press in this country everyone of them has a hidden agenda around our club and 95% of them have it in for us

Unless they pay what Rafa wants Mascherano is going nowhere. He and his agent can moan all they want. If it's true he wants to go then let him stand up like a man and say it, instead of alike a women through his mouthpiece agent. Same thing goes for Xabi tnh. I've had enough of the both of them with this silly behaviour.

Who's pass, Kuyt? Kuyt had a great game btw, I like Kuyt more and more now that he has found his proper position, made me laugh when his one shot went right at the keeper though, good old Diggler no one can hit the keeper time after time like him.  :D

Rafa Benitez believes that key midfielder Javier Mascherano has quit sulking and is now back to his imperious best.

That showed in his early season form as the former West Ham player seemed to struggle with demons.

But his Anfield boss is confident that Mascherano now realises he is a vital player at Liverpool, and will respond by showing a perfect example of leadership to some of the club's younger players.

"There has been a significant improvement in his game over the past 10 days. He has been a lot more focused, and we are seeing the real Javier Mascherano again," he said.

"He is now fully focused on us and what we might achieve together this season. I can guarantee that 100 per cent. We have spoken about his situation before, and we spoke again.

"He has accepted that his future is here and that he is going to be a key player for us once more."

Mascherano was unsettled as speculation raged over his future at the club, along with that of Xabi Alonso, who eventually moved to Real Madrid.

It was feared the Argentina midfield anchor would be upset that his partner at Liverpool got the move and not him, but Benitez believes the summer has shown Mascherano just how important a player he is to the English club.

In the end, the Anfield boss was faced with a straight decision of which of his two holding midfielders to let go, given that he felt they were too similiar, and he chose to  release Alonso,  showing how highly he rates the South American.

And the Reds manager said:  "Before, it was difficult for him, because everyone was talking about what might happen, and he could see that Alonso was on his way.

"But all that is behind him now. It is all in the past. He realises his importance to us and that he has an example to set, and he has changed a lot.

"I have seen a big difference in him. He knows he is staying and is clear about that in his own mind, and he is ready to show a lead to the rest of the players."

I want to hear him actually say he is committed to us and doesn't want to go anywhere. Then again even if he says that it means :censored: all these days. He is a great player and I am glad he is still a Liverpool player but I feel different about him now. Last year he was talking about Rafa as a father and now he was trying to engineer a move away.

It kind of feels like the wife who was caught flirting with someone else but that guy else got bored of her so we are stuck with her. God it's late im going to bed. :D

Worst comes to worst at least he has many years on his contract so Rafa can take his time finding a replacement should he start talking shyte next summer.

step aside Ronaldo, here comes the Mascherano pass, assist and goal machine. In fact he'll be like a Ronaldo and Alonso rolled into one, a deep-lying playmaker that dribbles past defenders, plays pinpoint accurate passes and creates and scores more goals than Torres, Gerrard and Kuyt.

Back in reality we wait to see if his preseason "form" is more than a one-off pass, myself I think we could see maybe two or three more before next preseason

During masch's first season and a half with us I thought he was outstanding. Last season he started off poorly after returning from the olympics, and although he did improve never reached the level that we had seen in his first 18months with us. I did think that perhaps the improved form of Alonso last season had maybe overshadowed him to some extent , but having seen his games in pre-season and again against Spurs this term I think he looks overweight and certainly doesn't appear to have the same drive as he did previously.

I just hope its not because he is unhappy, and that its just a tempory blip, because when he is playing at his best there is no doubt in my mind that he is a World class player.
