The league table last year doesn't really suggest that.  We do need one or two players in though, and of decent quality at that.

Yes mate I do believe we need another world class striker, and two world class wingers, even though I do appreciate what Dirk, Yossi, and Albert bring to the team.

I also think think (this wont go down well) that Carra should be dropped and Agger & Skyrtel should be our prefered choice next next season.

In an ideal world, yeah we could do with a striker and two wingers all of world class quality.

But in an ideal world we could also do with two world class centre backs, two world class full backs and clones of Gerrard and Torres in case they get injured

The point is we don't need all that to win the league.  We were only a few points shy of winning it last year even with the Keane fiasco and injury ravaged seasons for Torres and Gerrard.  Then factor in a Ronaldo-less United and I reckon we'll have another serious tilt at it this year even with our current squad.  But yes, if the right players are available at the right price then improvements could be made, especially in attack.

When I said world class wingers well there arnt many around, but if John Terry goes to Chelsea I think Lampard will look for pastures new. So I think we should put a bid in for Joe Cole cause he would leave if they did, he has always spoken highly of us, and we couldnt do much worst.
Joe Cole & Tuncay are better options to have than Ngog & Voro.

Joe Coles a shout Lynds, definately. Just have to stop him throwing himself to the ground every thirty seconds, I can't fecking abide all that regardless of how good a player they are. He is a good player though who would be great for us I'm sure, I'd almost forgotten all about him to be honest.

Joe Cole's a class player when fit, but his injury record over the past couple of seasons has been terrible and that would be my only reservation.  I think for that reason alone Chelsea would probably listen to offers for him, but I don't think he'd be our best option.

Joe Cole also has to compete with Zhirkov (who is probably going to be suggested to play by the owner to the manager, imo (but he is good)) and Malouda, who finally found some form at the end of last year.

No he's Ukranian or something isn't he? (Sorry if you weren't being serious). Russian or Ukranian or something anyway.

Van Horseface is openly available as a cheap backup striker. Common sense if you ask me.

Why is everyone so mad at ManCity for spending big on players ?
If we had that sort of money we'd be buying forward, midfielders and defenders all over the park..
hell some would argue that we dont have money now yet we're still paying big for players and buying too many players imo every transfer window...

lets face it, if we were in their position financially -which hopefully we will be sometime soon or somewhere a little closer- we'd be spending and offering just as much on players .. same with madrid...

you can call them kunts and a disgrace all you want but deep down inside everyones a little jealous if you will that we arent in the financial position theyr at... we arent talking about signing the likes of Terry (Distin) and Adebayor (Viduka, sorry BM :D ) because we dont have the funds to afford such luxuries... if we did we would be.. so its a little hypocritical if you ask me for us to be slating them for doing what ourselves have been doing for many years if you take it from other clubs' perspectives..

What i would call them though are idiots for having Hughes as a manager... instead of offering 100mill for Kaka they should have used that money to tempt a top manager to join them.. a Mourinho or Hiddink or even a Rijkard would have done them a world of good with all the funds they have even in terms of tranfers...

I think we can only assume that lesson will be learned eventually, so we should be happy/grateful the longer they go without realizing it.

Last summer we had exactly the same striker options that we have now, and he signed Robbie Keane for 20 million, clearly thinking we needed to improve there.  Keane has since flopped and been moved on, but Benitez will surely once again look to strengthen that position.

Man City will never keep that squad happy.  Bellamy and Tevez are known to spit the dummy when not getting regular games, while both Robinho and Adebayor are temperamental to say the least.

I'd say I'm pis.sed off with Man City rather than jealous.  Their mucking around in the transfer market this summer is affecting the asking price of players this summer and having a knock-on effect for us and other teams trying to buy.  They'll be better this season, but I'll look forward to them getting their customary humbling beatings from the top four again this season.  No better than 5th place.

How much are you betting that that p*ssant Hughes bungs about 6 strikers on against the lesser teams, with 3 more coming off the bench?

He really is a w*nker.

No jealousy for me, but really 9 strikers?
I guess their new formation is 1-1-8.  :D

My right of reply on the other thread was removed, so we'll let it go for now big fella. You owe him a beer. Have the last word, keep it reasonable and I'll keep my distance.

I think this could be the season carra will be pushed into midfield especially if mascherano goes to.
