I'm bored - Hypothetical question

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Thu Jun 07, 2007 2:55 pm

I'm that bored I'm starting a hypothetical thread. I think we need a distraction from all the transfer talk. But how? Transfer talk of course! To be honest, all the transfer talk does my head in at this time of the year, especially as far as we're concerned because nothing ever seems to get done.

Just thank you're lucky stars we don't have the "official transfer rumour thread anymore". :D

Right, it's simple. If you managed LFC and had about £4 million to spend on any player, who would it be?

David Bentley or Leighton Baines are my shouts.

I'd think signing either of those two would cost more than £4m!

Santiago Canazares to compete with Pepe.

Paul Scholes - Supposedly Sunderland are trying to sign him for about £2million, but would obviously cost us more. He may be a Manc **** but he can open defences and is just the type of player we need. Would take no time to settle, has experience and rotation would help not hinder at his age

I'd say a punt on Kevin Doyle would be worth it as a quality backup, but he's probably worth more than £4m.

Just four million?  I would offer it as a bumper pay-day to Roberto Carlos, who is leaving on a free isn't he?  I know he's already agreed where he's going, but this is hypothetical after all.  I think he could offer a lot to the squad, and he has a wealth of experience that would hopefully rub off on some of the younger players.

I think i'd take a gamble on Jason Koumas from WBA, the lad is class on his day allbeit againt weaker compitition but he still had some great games againt the premier league teams 2 seasons back.

I would go for Craig Gordon the Hearts and Scotland Goalkeeper.  He is a great keeper and could be a good backup for Pepe. His price tag is over the £4mil mark tho, but I would try and get him to Anfield!

Wot do you guys reckon??

Best player in the Championship imo.

Amazing that nobody's really taken a chance on him over the past few years. Excellent player but I believe his attitude is not the best though.

I respect and I like you Lando, you know that.

But Cañizares? never.

He has an EGO bigger than Spain. And he's the most stupid player you can get. Meaning, have you known ever a player that gets injured because he drops the parfurm bottle in his foot?

That's Cañizares for you. He missed a world cup that way. He's had many troubles with some players of Valencia, and his hair dress is a personal insult.

If you need an sub, aged, with experience and good keeper, then I'd think about Palop, the Sevilla player. But he's been too many years as a sub, and probably he's now enjoying first team football. In Spain I'd take a close look to Abondanzieri, Aouate, Bravo the chilean, and Palop.

Cañizares? no. If he comes I'll leave the forum.  :D

I'd take a punt on Zoltan Gera or I might even consider Stephen Hunt from Reading...if nothing else, he'd wind Jose up! :D
