How many players now are we short of being able to make a challenge for the premiership?

reina - good enough? probaly
finnan - good enough? probaly
carra - good enough? yes
agger - good enough? yes
riise - good enough? NO

Gerrard - yes
alonso - at times, but overall no
Pennant - no
gonzo - not right now

kuyt - yes
bellamy - no
crouch - no

soooo put those in a team and i believe we are still 4 (but sissoko for alonso and that makes it 3) players short of a title challenge,

quite worrying really, i hope this new take over means rafa can spend big on the players he really wants rather than taking 4th or 5th choices like pennant

in terms of 1st 11.  I would like to see 2 dynamic Full backs, a CB with genuine pace.  Ledley King would be perfect.  A new RW but would keep faith with Gonzalez.  1 World class striker.

It depends on how they play. Look at UTD. O'Shea, Flethcher, Ferdinand, Neville, Park - these are average players but they way they are played makes all the difference.

Manu united generally play with the same team so each player knows his job and how the guy beside/behind/infront move.

Rafa changes the team every game so that natural understanding never develops- how can it? Even with the best 11 players we wouldnt' win the the league as he'd drop midfielders and attackers every second game.
