Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'd still sell Dossena this January if we can still get decent money.

Aurelio is back, and Arbeloa can play there too.

Insua looks like he can make the left back his place over the rest of the season.

can't Agger play at left back? he's a skillful enough player, can do short passes as well as most midfielders, likes getting forward...

a defence of

Arbeloa----Carra----Skrtel-----Agger

could see us through games against quality opposition like Chelsea.
Furthermore I think Dossena should be sold - the very fact that we're all a little concerned about losing Insua for a month goes to show how poor his displays have been and how unconvincing he is in that role. Ship him off to italy for anywhere between £3-4million and then try to buy a backup/first team option. Johnson from Pompey would be terrific.

So would I.

The longer we keep him and don't pay him, his value will drop.  In fact even if we do play him his value will drop.  Our best bet is getting shot in January while Italian clubs still remember his 'good season' last year.

id stick carra at leftback if auerillo is injured and play agger with skrtel let them play a few games together because for me they are the future

as for insua i agree the timing is bad but hopefully he can have a good tournament stay fit and come back ready for more first team football

I'd think more like this, seeing as Carra has actually played RB quite a few times (recently as well), and Arby is no stranger to the LB position (just ask Messi):

Carra Skrtel Agger Arbeloa

Don't think we should start to experiment with Agger's position atm, seeing as we already have two good utility players in Carra and Arby. Anyway, this is just my backup plan if Aurelio injures himself again. I certainly wouldn't want to see Dossena anywhere near the team (hope to god we sell him back to Italy this window where he's still worth something), and I also don't agree with buying a new LB which someone suggested, as we could do with spending that money elsewhere.

Unfortunate that Insua will be missing for the next month but he goes with my support...it is his country afterall.

The solution is simple...stick Arbeloa at LB and leave Carra at RB for the time being.

IF (and it's a bif IF) we sign Johnson then we have him to RB and then Carra, Sami, Skrtel and Agger to fight it out for the CB's spot

Portsmouth Denounce Johnson To Liverpool Rumours
The England full-back will not be sold to Liverpool, and the club are fuming about the reports that he might be...

Glen Johnson will not be leaving Portsmouth for Premier League contenders Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to the club's chief executive, Peter Storrie.

The England full-back had been heavily tipped to depart Fratton Park for Anfield when the market reopens on Thursday, as Pompey struggle to balance the books on the south coast.

The FA Cup winners have seen some of their cup-run heroes leave the club in an attempt to rectify the ailing financial predicament, with the likes of Sulley Ali Muntari, Pedro Mendes and Lassana Diarra having already been sold.

However, Storrie insisted that rumours linking Johnson with a move away from the club were false, and the announcement of such 'lies' has left the club and player bitter.

Storrie is quoted as saying in the Metro: "We have had no approaches for any of our players and that includes Glen.

"I know that his agent has taken this story up with the newspaper and is pushing for an apology.

“Glen is livid, everyone is, it's an outrageous story.

"To say we have had a bid for him is a lie, it's just silly season."

So don't look like we getting Glen J

Insua has already won the U20 World Cup for Argentina two year ago, when he was the youngest player in the squad (the only one born in 1989).  Although I am sure the Argies really want to win this South American tournament (Brazil w/ Lucas won the last won), its really just a qualification tournament for this summers U20 World Cup which the Argies have won 5 out of the last 7 including back to back championships (oddly the other two teams to win it have been the United Arab Emirates and Nigera)

I like the idea of agger at left back , should be given a try there now with skrtel coming back as well . Sami has been in top form as of late

Id prefer to see this defence in Insua's abscence
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

This is a bit of a blow. He should tell them to :censored: off. Surley he will be called up to the full squad before long anyway so why waste his time on this micky mouse kids tourno? Now we are stuck with the that muppet Dossena and Aurelio who will probably be injured falling out of bed tomorrow.

I cant believe he is going to leave like that though. He could be playing a role in a title winning season and he wants to play in an under 20s.

He probably agreed to go before we discovered how cack Dossena is.The lad probably had his name down for it thinking he was going to be playing in reserves.Lets face it no one really expected him to be practically 1st choice LB as we stand, least of all him!
