I won't ask the lad much. I'm more than happy he's having minutes and that's a success for him, and much needed, because it was about time to see lads from the youth team appearing in the first team.

We have to be patient with him, now, and when he has 2 awful games.

What serious mistakes? A lack of arial ability and ball watching once on one quick counter attack against one of the best sides in the country aren't what I'd call serious mistakes.

As soon as I arrive home, I'll make the list of mistakes and the minute to know what I'm referring to. Most of them decissions and unnecessary risks.

Mind you, I'm happy with his game, and I appreciate what he has done well, all I'm saying is that this young players will make mistakes at this age and we have to be patient once the "new shoes" syndrome passes. That is, I don't want praises now, and in one month to read he's not good enough. Young players need patience, and we should not get too carried away with them.

He's doing well enough being on the first team with minutes and playing well. Saying he doesn't make mistakes is a bit exagerated. But we'll review that later.

I agree. I think against Arsenal he was nothing short of sensational but while he generally played well against Newcastle, I definately noticed a few glaring mistakes.

Still much rather those mistakes against Newcastle than Real Madrid or Manchester United. While Duff is quality he's not going to make you pay like Higuan or The :censored:wit will.

Oh behave, getting skinned by Damien Duff's not a bloody mistake.

What next? Being outpaced by Torres or losing a 50/50 with Gerrard?

Cut the lad some slack, he's come in and done really well and looked every bit a first team quality player. By no means exceptional but a hell of a lot better than some of the players we've seen there over the years. If he turns out to be as good as Finnan if not slightly better, which looks very likely (although slightly different) then we'll have a cracking player.

End of.

I'm just acknowledging that he's making some mistakes now which I think given a month or two in the first team he won't be making.

I agree. I think Insua looks an absolute gem of a player. He'd be my first choice LB at the moment and yeah he looks a first team player. But I will add that he's 18 and I don't think you can really on an 18 y/o to survive an EPL season as first choice. He's shown enough for me to think we don't need to be looking at kids like Gareth Bale though. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said he will at least be as good as Finnan if not better.

I liked him ever since his first game that he started in the prem.  He played a solid game that day, nothing special but didn't look nervous at all for a 19 year old given a chance to show his stuff.  He was confident in his own ability and played his game, that alone was a great sign for me.  If he is capable of what he is doing now at his age he can turn into something special imo.  Who knows if he will but he has tremendous potential.  Keep it up and maybe we can sell both Aurelio and Doss for a class LB and use Insua as a rotation player like DanAn mentioned.  Aurelio is still too injury prone and Dossena simply isn't good enough not even as a sub, he must be sold.

So far from what I have seen of him you'd say he's one of those defensive players you don't see a lot of in a game.

Almost always that means he's been effective (which is a good thing).

I was worried a bit that he managed to work his way into the starting XI (although it was after there wasn't anything left to play for) TWO years ago, and then he was the 2nd youngest player on the U20 Argie squad that won the world cup, played well in the reserves the next season but again only managed a couple of appearances at the end of the season when everything was all said and done.  You can even argue that his (and most of the team's) reserve form had diminished from last year, and I got to worrying that maybe he wasn't going to make it, but he has certainly stepped up when he has gotten the call in these last few matches.

now that we have wingers and wing-backs we dont have crouch. tat a pity.

Leto? He is :censored:.

Did O.K today. No major disasters but a few moments were his inexperience showed but showed enough quality and grit to recover each situation. He has to be our first choice left back now and we must show patience even when he has bad days. An education is what the boy is getting at the moment.

I read on RAWK that he is included in some under 20 tournament, so he will miss this month and most of the next.

any truth in that?

INSUA HEADS OFF ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY
Steve Hunter 05 January 2009
Liverpool will be without the services of Emiliano Insua for the next month due to his participation in the Under-20 South American Championships with Argentina in Venezuela.
The left back, who has started the last four matches in the first team, will be away until February 8 meaning he won't be available for this weekend's game with Stoke, the double header with Everton or the Anfield clash with Chelsea.

Joining Insua in the tournament will be reserve defender Ronald Huth who will be representing Paraguay.

The tournament runs from January 19 until February 8, and is staged every two years.

Argentina have won it four times, the last being in 2003.

If this is true (there has been some fake stories circling lately and I haven't read it anywhere on the web myself ???), you would think he could be relieved from going, seeing as it is "only" a U20 tournament, and he has been somewhat of a regular these last few weeks. That being said it is at least perfect timing for us to have Aurelio back again (we just have to cross our fingers he doesn't get injured during the forthcoming period, as I would hate seeing Dossena anywhere near the team against neither Everton nor Chelsea :().

I think the timing on this one was wrong for the fella, he just broke into the first team, did well and now he is off to a competition.

Crazy to go at this stage of his Liverpool career, although presumably he has no choice? Hopefully with him having had a few first team games he will be less inclined to be "tapped" while on his travels anyway.

Yeah really bad timing like Metal said, hope nothing happens while he is over there and Aurelio can manage to stay fit until he is back.

we must sign cover for the left back slot. Even getting someone on loan just in case we lose Aurelio with another injury

was just thinking where does this leave us defensively? hes set to miss the following if the Argies go all the way, we may see him return earlier if they go out tho right?
Stoke
Everton
Everton
Wigan
Chelsea
Portsmouth

seriously tho we may see the return of the Doss, or we could put Arbeloa at LB and Darby RB maybe, provided Aurelio gets injured that is.
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
