I was watching Liverpool V Debrechan, Eggnog came off, benni came on and benni and Kuyt swapped positions. So effectively Eggnog was substituted for Kuyt.

Don't really think we can have a go at Ngog to be fair. The lad has come in + quietly and efficiently done his job with a good return (goals to games). I think he's a little raw but, as has already been stated on here, his game play/match awareness has improved.

He is undoubtedly our main goal threat at the moment with Torres out, Gerrard and Yossi partially fit and Kuyt all at sea in terms of form.

Yes agreed he'd be better with a partner alongside him. The question is who?? I would suggest maybe Yossi would be the best option! Ngog is a willing runner and with Yossi wee neat passes and a bit of guile he could be a good foil for Ngog.

That then raises the question of Gerrardn and I would either stick him back in CM for Lucas or out right in place of Kuyt!!

Stevie should play at CM untill Aquaman and Torres is ready irrespective of what formation we play. Partner for Eggnog, Kuyt is th elikely candidate but he's rubbish so why not one of the youngsters, give them a try.

I think he is better than i thought without doubt.
He has improved with every game but cleary he had to, as to me he didnt even look like a footballer the first few games he played.
But in an ideal world he wouldnt be playing and it really does emphasise the limitations of the squad that he has had to play so frequently.
The lad to me has looked really tired the last two games but battled on well.
Ideally he would have rest but there is literally nobody else to bring in.
Fair play on his goals return and he has had a very hard role to play, lone striker with the midfield we have often but out not being at all creative would be hard for a top striker.

I still have my reservations about whether he is going to be quite good enough but i am happy that he has proved me wrong on my early thoughts.
Lets hope he does again.

I agree mate, I think in a genuine 4-4-2 his limitations wouldn't be so emphasised, and as you say having a more creative midfield behind him would help too.

Ngog is 20 years of age . He has been playing up front on his own whilst he's been in the side . It's a very hard thing to do for a striker and there's only a couple of players in the world who do it to perfection imo .Torres and Drogba and they are proper world class players who pull it off .David N'gog is learning his trade and has been thrown in at the deep end , he's not learning off another striker beside him .He's doing a great job for one so young and will be a better striker and player for it.

For once I agree with you, it is very very very hard to play as a striker in a 4-5-1 so why is Rafa making him do it? Why not switch to a 4-4-2 and play Eggnog alongside Kuyt or Voronin or one of the many other excellent striker swe have in our squad?

Yeah I don't really see him as the main man in a 4-2-3-1. Same goes for Dirk aswell.

Your also right about the supply behind him aswell. On Sunday he was largely isolated for long parts, especially in the second half.

For me the debate about N'Gog is still whether or not he will ever be good enough. I don't personally think there is any debate that he currently isn't, although he is begining to show glimmers of promise. There will be those that jump in and assure everyone that he is fact good enough, but my contention is that he wouldn't get a game at any other team in the top seven and would be absolutely nowhere near to starting games like he is for us at the moment.

Hand on heart I think he'll earn a living from football but at this stage I don't think it will be at the very top of the game.

Well Ngog has been doing a work of a classical "9". By classical 9 I'm talking about one of those who fights with the defences and all that.

Since Torres is not that kind of player, Voronin isn't that kind of player, sometimes that work has been useful for the team.

But I've seen better players than Ngog doing that role. His ability to be good enough for Liverpool, will depend on how clever he is and how he absorbs experience to do the fighting role he's doing right now. If he's a quick learner he might be good enough.

Right now, I doubt it, because some things are difficult to learn, but if I have to be fair with him he has provided 5 goals already and that's some contribution.

Agree, except his 5 goals have mostly been modest opponents (Leeds, Stoke, brum, Debrecen) or a 1-on-1 goal against the mancs.
