CHELSEA vs LIVERPOOL: 30/04/08 7.45pm - Champions League Semi Final - 2nd Leg

Anyone else read about Maureen saying that DIC  have approached him to take over as Liverpool FC manager for next season.

I think this is all a load of media rubbish.  Maureen is trying to wade in with his two bits worth right before we play Cheaski on Wednesday. Bitter and twisted I say.

Sport superstitions are pretty big in America. Due to that, I've washed my Fernando Torres jersey exactly 9 times since last Tuesday. At first I put it in the washer and forgot to dry it, so it started to smell foul. And I put it back in the washer, and happened to forget to dry it again. Thought I might as well match the number of visits in the washing machine to the number on the back for good luck so I kept throwing it back in.

Anyway, what lineup would you bunch be comfortable with?
For me:

     Skrtel  Carra  Hypia   Riise

                  Masch
Kuyt           Alonso           Babel
                  Gerrard

                  Torres

Lets go for the goal early. Put the shits up them and force them to have to score. If we get a goal in the first 20 minutes, I'll be happy. Leaving it for the last 20 minutes, puts me on edge. We MUST score, they don't have to, so we have to attack from the off. There's no point giving ourselves 20 minutes to score, when we can the full 90. Crouch and Torres up front (4-4-2) and go for the throat.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

.                        reina

finnan         carra           skertel      riise

                Alonso        Mashman

Kuyt                  Gerrard              Babel

                        Torres

Thats the team i'd choose. i would like to see pennant play a part after 2 fine performances but i don't think it will be the case.
If we are still in need of a goal with 30 minutes to go, time to bring on pennant and crouchy imo.

John Terry takes a pop at the Kop
By Paul Smith 27/04/2008

Chelsea captain John Terry has lit the touch paper on a potentially explosive Champions League semi-final showdown with Liverpool on Wednesday by taking a swipe at the Anfield supporters.

In his programme notes for yesterday's clash with Manchester United, Terry slated the treatment he and his team-mates suffered at the hands of the home fans on Merseyside last week.

And he called on his own supporters to retaliate and dish out much the same to the Liverpool players.

Terry wrote: "I've got to say that the stick us players took from their fans was horrible. But I'm sure every Chelsea fan will give it back to them.

"We've heard about their fans around the last two semi-finals and how the second leg at Anfield is to their advantage.

"Well, I'll tell you what I think. Our fans are just as great as theirs when the game's a big one.

"And I know you'll put them under immense pressure.

I know you'll be as loud as you can. Chelsea expects and I know you'll deliver for

judging by this and my own hearing...have the last two champions league semi finals not been big games because i didn't hear the chelsea fans in either of their home legs. was the united game last saturday not big enough because i only heard them cheer when they scored, no singing before the first goal.

can't stand terry, and i really hope he gets booked in the semi just so he can't play in the final, if by some miracle they make it there curtosey of uefa giving us another cheating ref who'll give them a free kick every time anybody breathes on drogba.

Looking at what seems the most popular selection 4-2-3-1  my only worry is Babel on the left. Unfortunately I don't think he is good enough (yet) and may be the one real weakness in our team. He scores goals....... but more often than not runs into deadends, passes poorly or fails to control the ball. Even Kuyt who I admit I still don't think is good enough for us in the long term, has had a new lease of life since being moved out wide.

If only we had a decent left winger ! This is not a game for the fainthearted, and we will need every player giving everything if we are going to win it. Chelsea showed against the mancs that they can play good football, but also showed that they make mistakes just like any team.

             Reina

Arbeloa   Carra    Skrtel      Riise

Kuyt   Mascherano   Alonso     Babel
              Gerrard
                   Torres

I think if we can keep them out for the first 30 mins we will win it in the next 60. We need a strong Ref as Drogba, Ballack and Terry will be as sneaky sly and slimy as they can be again on Wednesday.  How anyone can support "JT" for captain of England baffles me.

I just hope Torres takes a couple of dives - gets Terry sent off and gets us the match winning penalty :D

you're right mate... terry plays dirty and is a cheat... but drogba is a fecking disgrace... I keep saying this again and again but I can't get enough... he's even more of a disgrace than that diving portuguese... all he thinks with his small brain is to go down and get an unfair advantage... I hope that this time when ballack and him argues about who takes free kicks, they would pull punches at each other and both of them get dismissed...  :D

Well I intended to put "I don't think we need Reina in goal by the way Chelsea played last week". But then I realized it was A) A stupid joke and B) Thought it was obvious Reina would be starting.
