Scottbot wrote:It's amazing how much this lad ha spolarised opinion of reds fans. For me, he's made a solid start to his Liverpool career. He's given it away a few times in dangerous positions (but then we already knew this) but there have also been positives. His workrate is better than many would have you believe, I don't know the tackle count but I suspect he is 2nd behind Lucas on the team after 2 games. and neither is he pinging 70 yard balls into space and losing possession as many fans were suggesting he would when he got here.

i'm perfectly happy with how he's settled and think he can only improve as time goes on and this team beds in. I' like to see Lucas-Adam-Mereiles in the middle for the Bolton game.

People have to remember he had more freedom at Blackpool, he was required to spray balls ahead of him but here he has to track back and do some dirty work.

Suits me fine tbh. Only thing which bothered me was some of his deliveries yesterday were cack.

I know I should give Charlie abit more time... but IMHO, we should've bought Kevin Nolan instead of Charlie...

Well, I can see he has offensive capabilities and can spot a run and sometimes do the unexpected.
But in a 2 man cm he is just not good enough defensivly.
Too slow, very poor positioning forcing him on the back foot making last ditch tackles. His lack of pace makes him start too far back in the field when he is most effective in the final 3rd.
Add Kuyt to that and Downing is the only player with any pace at all being called upon to create everything.

If you look back at our history, especially when  we use to win everything, you would see a TEAM of players who complimented each other. They often where not the best players in the world but together that where brilliant.

At the moment I fail to see this "compliment" especially with Lucas and Adam. Given time they may get it together - but as it stands it's far from convincing. In fact I'd argue Lucas' job is made much harder having Adam alongside him as opposed to Spearing. Adam has to learn 'when to break forward' more, as he is still playing in a disciplined role. The comparisons to Alonso couldn't be further apart - Adam needs to complete his passes better and not give away possession in dangerous areas of the field. His set-pieces were woeful at the Emmirates.

I also have this incline that he now thinks he's a 'big time Charlie', and can be quite casual with his play and what not - I don't like this attitude especially if you haven't got the minerals to back it up.

I don't necessarily expect the whole team to 'gel' after two games, its natural they bed in so I'm not writing Adam off. But while everyone sits here and applauds the bloke it should also be noted that his game and performances have been far from accomplished.

Obviously I've watched the first 2 games of the season, and that's what I've based my opinion on.

59% of his passes went forward against Arsenal. Watch the game in future lad rather than slavering near a window.

It seems it would suit Adam's play if we pressed high and he played further up the pitch and not along side Lucas so much.  This brings with it the added pressure on the CBs to control runs from that high line.  With our compliment of CBs ATM, we can't do this without giving up some goals.  As a result, Adam is having to play deeper than he should to optimize his talents.

If you look at Lucas, Adam, Carra, and Agger - only Agger has decent pace and even then doesn't actually look entirely confident running with attackers on the break.  Carra, forget about it!  Which leave Adam playing slightly deeper to help cover for defensive inadequacies.

And why I said it was a crock of :censored: is because quite clearly most of his passes go forward. Can you please tell me how Adam is anything like Batty? If you come up with ANY facts I might take you more seriously.
