Benayoun or riera?

I'd chuck Gerrard in the middle with Mascher, Kuyt on the right, Riera on the left and Benayoun supporting Torres up front.

But that's just me.

interesting point mate, as i like benny in an attacking role aswell, but please give me a more detailed view on this as i'm with you on this one, just not sure how it would work in away game especially.

but if we set up the side againgst spuds for playing on the break i could see that formation really effective.

if we pull gerrard back do we not loose a lot of gerrards game with him sitting a bit deeper or do we move in back a little but not alongside masher - more of playing in the role that rafa seems to have earmarked for aquaman ?

The 'luxury' with Gerrard is that he is adaptable at playing pretty much wherever he is needed. Maybe not always as exciting as playing off Torres, but needs must.

While Aquilani is injured, i'd pull Stevie back and put Yossi behind Torres with Riera left and Kuyt right.

I would have Riera on the left and benni on the right now.

Rafa won't drop Kuyt. Does anyone know when Riera is due back? Anyway I think Yossi did well in his stint today so has earned a starting place ahead of Babel.

Anyone know what Riera's injury is all about and how long he's expected to be out for?  News to me, this one.

He must have picked it up playing for Spain the other night. Can't imagine it's anything serious otherwise it would have been announced. Could be just that he was tired.

Liverpool must stump up £7m to land Dynamo Kiev's Pape Diakhate

Liverpool have been quoted a price of £7million for Dynamo Kiev central defender Pape Diakhate.

Manager Rafael Benitez is keen to bring in another top stopper after a number of
injury worries and Diakhate caught his eye when he went to watch Senegal play this summer.

Stats :

Full name Pape Malickou Diakhaté

Date of birth June 21, 1984 (1984-06-21) (age 25)

Place of birth    Dakar, Senegal

Height 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in)  ----- Isn't this a little short for a CB ?

After the international game no injury reports that I know of. I don't know, but his absence may be for personal reasons, a team mate of his former club has passed away unexpectedly, and Riera was more affected than others. He was the one that was going to deliver the shirts of Spain to Jarque's family and friends.

I just hope he's not injured because we needed his game last year for our balance, and so do we this one.
