I don't think GH would have him back in the squad. How did he look against us the other day?

Babbel is class. Better than biscan anyday of the week....... We would have wrapped up 4th place by now if he had not been loaned to blackburn.

Babbel has been fairly rubbish at times this season with Blacburn.

Its brilliant that he can actually play again after his illness, but he's miles past his best, I'm afraid.

r u sure ? I read somewhere, he was voted blackburn's best player for quite a few matches. Also have to note that playing in a defence consisting of andy todd and craig short..... is a handicap......

Babbel has been poor this season. He was a great player in the treble season, alas he will probably never become that good aymore.

I agree he had a great season in the treble season, and i also think it would be wrong to bring him back! maybe as a squad player if someone put it to him that he would be a squad player instead of the likes of biscan and troare playing, we something fresh at the back, i think our full backs and keepers are great but at centre half
Hyypia
Henchoz
Biscan
Troare
Babbel
i would seriously sell biscan traore and not let babbel back, and then go out a buy at least one new GOOD centre half! ANYONE AGREE?

Don't get me wrong I am a massive fan of Babbel but we have to face facts here. Babbel is struggling in one of the worst defences in the league.

His illness and year out took away his sharpness and pace, and given his age now he'll never get it back.

I have seen him play a number of times this season and although he hasn't had many stinkers, he is struggling to plug the holes in Blackburn's defence. He's still powerful in the air and won some plaudits with a few headed goals with Blackburn but his defensive play is simply not up to scratch.

Obviously he'd be better than Biscan but I thinkt he best thing for Babbel is that he should return to Germany.

I sense a lot of sentimental fondness for Babbel here, it confirms that we do care about players that have given us their best.I wish Babbel was STILL good enough to rejoin us but the sad fact is he isn't.........OK even past his best we may prefer him to Biscan but does that really solve anything?
We can't just keep plugging the gaps with short term solutions.Good luck and many thanks to Marcus but we all have to move on.
