On Gerrard's personal problems  - Alex always had a reputation for being a bit of a goer and was a 5 star shagging machine in her younger days so this video would not surprise me.

what video is this? sorry if i've missed something but been away for a bit and i'm also not from liverpool

but when sissoko and alonso are our only centre mids we lack a driving force from the centre

sissoko flukes it past a few men from time to time but you know he will never score goals, make great assists or do damage going forward.

i stand by my point about alonso........he is to static........unless he plays in a 3...........then he can get away with it

Let me refresh your memory...

Feb time last year... we had just been on a run of clean sheets and undefeated in x amount of games ( or 1 defeat in 15... whatever the stat was) and we moved 2nd above utd (albeit for a short period).

Our midfield then was kewel, momo, Alonso, Gerrard.

Alonso playing alongside momo in a 4-man midfield.

It worked. in fact it worked so well we had our best finish in 4 years and won the FA cup.

Alonso was looking so good he was attracting intrest from Real madrid and utd.. to which we replied: 'go away' (we are a very polite club)

Alonso can play in a 4, he is not static, he is just going through a bad patch. we all have bad patches... i mean i havent scored for 2 weeks now - how bad is that!

real madrid will pay 10 million for him, then get in a midfielder who isnt one dimensional (possibly nolan, possibly joey barton)

sissoko is good as a holding role type midfielder

alonso cant tackle so isnt a holding role mid, and cant make dynamic off the ball runs as good centre mids need to

if you watch alonso he barely moves all game. the lad was good when he first came over cause his passing was a breath of fresh air, but he hasnt improved since then and has become a very static one trick pony (and his trick is bad at the moment)

i agree with the selling of alonso because although he's scored some wonder goals and 1 game in 5 he finds a world class ball we need more from him.

But i don't agree with buying anyone when we have the best centre midfield player in the world playing on the left or right wing STEVIE. put him back where he belongs in the middle alongside momo

That has got to be the worst idea I've EVER heard from a Liverpool fan.

Selling Alonso !!!  :no

Before you get your coat, I'll get me gun.

Answering Bigmick, no you haven't.

Overdramatic are some of the things that can be read afterwards -or perhaps Manc supporters wishing we sell Alonso in order they can replace Carrick for Alonso-

You're just a fan that's worried and tries to discuss about what's going on.

Another issue I have at the moment is the Sissoko 'on the edge of their box' scenario, whats all that about? he gets every lose ball in that 'D' and spoons any control/shot/pass he attempts. Meh.

would you prefer we sell gerrard then?? because in my opinion stevie will be leaving us if he doesn't start playing in the centre and there's no chance of that while alonso is at liverpool.

Rafa talks about rotation but he picks alonso ahead of stevie in the middle and to me that just add up when alonso hasn't been anywhere near his best for a while now.

You have two positions in CM mate.

yeah and i think to play stevie there you must play momo alongside him in a holding role. Alonso is not and never will be a ball winner.

Stevie needs to have the freedom to go forward and with momo alongside him then he doesn't have to worry about what';s happening behind him.

And Sissoko is not and never will be a holding midfielder, Alonso would allow Stevie the freedom to roam as he'll sit, Momo goes hunting for the ball therefore he'll leave gaps.

Incidently I'd pick this team for the next three games or so and stick with it if I were Rafa......... but I'm not so ......

                                       Reina

Finnan    Carragher  Agger (if fit) Riise

             Pennant   Gerrard   Alonso   Gonzalez

                          Crouch   Kuyt

subs: Dudek Bellamy Garcia, Hyypia Momo.

Looking at it now I'd keep Gerrard central and maybe rotate the CM position between the three of them eventually (Momo, Steven, Xabi) but I'd start with that same team for the next few games or so.

Thats my winning formula

looks like we have differing opinions on Alonso and Momo but hey isn't that what makes this site worth posting.

i agree with your back 4 and with exception momo for alonso the midfield but i think bellamy should be in the team for the pure work rate he puts in and that he scares people with his pace. ( i just hope he start scare the keepers soon)  :D

:D  If he'd of scared the keepers he would of been in my line-up, I'm basing Crouch on his goals and performances recently and he'd just pip the starting eleven for me.

I also wasnt too sure about putting Aurelio in where speedy is, but he hasnt done much for me yet except frustrate me, so I thought I'd throw Gonzalez in at the deep end and give him a run in the side for now.
