I think it will go along these lines, results I am pretty sure of, the scores are a different matter....

1.        Newcastle (A) - WIN 2-1
2.        Blackburn (H) - WIN 3-1
3.        Everton (H) - WIN 2-1
4.        Bolton (H) - WIN 1-0
5.        Man City (A) - DRAW 1-1
6.        Spurs (H) - WIN 2-1
7.        Pompey (A) - DRAW 2-2
8.        Palace (A) - WIN
9.        Boro (H) - WIN 2-1
10.      Arsenal (A) - DRAW 2-2
11.      Villa (H) - WIN 4-1

I think this will give us enough to get into the coveted 4th place.

What do you think?

This was a major silly post!

Your predictions there suggest we start showing championship winning form in all of the last games?

Thats the kind of form Utd or Chelsea would be proud of!

I think you need to be a bit more realistic, and include some losses in that little analogy of yours

Totally agree JBG.

We havent shown enough to suggest we can even win 1 game, or hold on to a lead for 80 minutes or something.

some people are posting WIN,WIN,WIN,DRAW,WIN,WIN etc for the last fixtures.

Get real will you all!

What is wrong with a little faith. The team lacks consistancy that is all, If we can find that who knows? fourth is a possibility for sure.

I think that a combination of Everton dropping off the pace and us picking up points will make the difference - there will be three or less points in it one way or another come the end of the season.

What`s wrong with a bit of optimism ??? Out of the 11 remaining games we`re going to face 9 teams that are below us and two teams that are ahead of us in the premiership.

We`ve got to beat Everton, and most certainly have a chance of picking points against all the opponants below us. Arsenal at Highbury will be difficult, but not impossible.

The match I fear the most is actually vs Newcastle tomorrow. If we don`t loose that one, I will be just as silly as Leon in claiming that we can finish the campaign without loosing another match

I think once everton are safe and guarenteed a UEFA place and theres one more place this season cause of chelsea winning the CC, everton will take the foot off the gas knowing they will be in europe playing in the UEFA cup.
They would be happy enough with that achievement, better than being nearly relegated last season.
Wish they would have been now :kungfu:

It certainly can be done and Everton will hit the wall very soon.

The question is whether we can get the consistancy to make up the difference.

We win, Everton lose then its pressure time and the whole debate takes a different route.  The other way round and Everton mentally have the edge.

If were close by the Derby and beat them I can see us doing it through our experience etc

Funnily enough I think its the same situation with Manu and Chelsea

I think we will probably lose a few, no way we could stay unbeaten for that long looking at our league form so far this season.

its down to us. the words 'everton will hit the wall soon' first appeared on this forum in something like november, i think. they're showing no signs of slidiing and if we're talking about needing them to drop points for us to get 4th then we're screwed.

there's no way we'll go 5 games unbeaten, let alone 11. maybe we can squeeze enough out of these games and we'll just pip everton. thats the deal, if we get 4thh place its going to be by 1 point or even by goal difference.

i've been keeping optimistic all season and am still 100% behind the team, but the realist in me sees the difficulty of the task.

We had our chance when we played Birmingham, we ****** up. If we don't get 4th I think that is the result we will be looking at.

Jesus Christ, I have been slated on this thread haven't I ??

However follow my logic rather than looking at it as an 11 game run.

1. Newcastle. I suggested we would win this one by the odd goal. Now maybe following their win against Chelsea last week people have some sort of renewed faith in Greame Souness and the barcodes, but I quite frankly do not see it. They have been extrely poor in the league all season, and have failed to win against any of the top four or five teams. If you are really worried about Kluivert and Ameobi up front then we are in trouble. Their defence has been bolstered by the (excellent but costly) aquisition of Boomsong, but Titus Bramble at the back is perfect for Milan and Nanado to exploit. Stevie will certainly boss the midfield and Didi will be spurred on by the hostile Toon army. I expect John Arne to continue his excellent form against Newcastle and slot one. To win by one goal against Newcastle is highly likely.

2. Blackburn. For anyone who went to Darwen earlier this season, you will know we played well enough to get a result, but the sight of seeing one of your teamates in such obvious agony really knocked the lads for six. We are more than a match for Blackburn, and I expect a really good result against them. A win by at least a couple of goals is not beyond the reals of reality.

3. Everton. Rafa in his naiveity (sp?) thought that the way to beat Everton at their place would be to get the heavy artilery out and try and match them for muscle in the midfield. In the light of the previous showings from Gravesen and Carsley at the heart of the Everton engine room, it was a fair assumption. However it proved a fatal error. We where not in any way out played out classed or out fought in the game at Woodison, and we owe them big time. The players will know by this time that a win against Everton is essential, and Stevie will certainly be looking to ensure Champions League football is a certainty for next year, so will drive the boys on. We will win this one without a doubt.

4. Bolton. Did you go the reebok? I did and I am not one to moan about refereeing decisions as I am a firm beleiver in what goes around comes around, this in mind, we will bury Bolton, but I think the Kop will be frustrated by the lack of goals, and a sneaky one nil will be the order of the day.

5. Man City. For all their great play, Man City are a team of old men, Shaun Wright Phillips is out with cruciate knee ligament damage, and their "rock" at the back Richard Dunne falls to pieces under the constant pressure that Milan, Nando, John Arne and Stevie will be putting him under. A win is well worth the value.

6. Tottenham. Now here we go, Spurs, who I for one have cast a fair few envious glances towards due to the quality young players they are signing. Callum Davenport, Tom Huddlestone, Defoe, Carrick, Brown, Michael Dawson and Steven Ried represent some of the hottest British talent available. However Freddie Kanoute, Naybet and Gardner are not the greatest "spine" of any team, and the lure of Ajax will I beleive keep Martin Jol's eye off the ball. I think its fair to expect us to beat these boys.

7. Portsmouth. This game is one where we seem to have histarically come unstuck, so rather than tempt fate, I am willing to go with a draw here.

8. Palace. If we can not expect to beat relegation fodder, especially when we have beaten them earlier in the season, then we are in trouble. I expect us to win this one quite comfortably, so maybe 2 nil  or the like.

9. Boro. For all their good young players etc, Boro are fundementally old men as well. Hasslebaink, Viduka, Nemeth, Southgate amd the like are well past their best, and applying the same logic on luck and decisions, we should have had a goal at their place, so I expect us to beat them.

10. Arsenal. Now I can understand that people would think that the Arsenal will hammer us in our current stop start form, but I allow for the fact we will be chasing hard for the points, and the boys will be focused on winning. Add in the possible return of Alonso and some other players who have been out, and we are capable of a draw. I even think we could squeak it, like we did at Anfield. Remember as well, Arsenal will more than likely have nothing at all to play for at this time.

11. Aston Villa. anyone who went to the Midlands and watched us totally and utterly out play and out class Villa, and saw us robbed by Gareth Barry's dive and the referee's ineptness will surely see a win is the only outcome here. Add to this a flag day at Anfield, the possibility of a win on the last day securing the coveted fourth place, and even (bear with me) a Champions League final game coming up and its surely party time at Anfield. A big win me thinks.

What you need to do is think of it in terms of playing one game at a time, an old cliche I know, but if we played them all, we can beat each one.

Am I still that stupid ??

Everybody except Lakes10 knows we're more than capable of beating every one of those sides, the problem is that we can't keep a run together. I know looking at the fixtures there's no reason why we shouldn't go unbeaten but I'll bare my a*se in burtons window if we actually do
